Re: Did you get an Airave?
Just out of curiosity, how do you know which version you have?

Re: Did you get an Airave?
EDIT: Removed the wrong quote lol.
I didn't really know about this until I read it here on PPCGeeks! The signal in my home was always 2-3 bars on my TP2. The Evo is the same, but doesn't drop any calls where my TP2 did; I have no idea if that's a coincidence or not. When I talked to a Sprint representative and told them I'd read online that people are getting something called Airave to better their signal at home, they had me call an Airave tech support person who looked up my address, confirmed I was in a "fair" area which qualifies for free Airave... then they sent it out after approving me for a second line on my SERO-P account. It is supposed to be completely free. The very first chat representative I spoke with said I would have to schedule an appointment to have technicians come out and test the signal at my place. I told him thank you and moved on to another chat representative that got this all going for me. I don't have the unit yet, but I'm hoping this increases my signal and works well at my place. I am on a 10mbit cable connection and the woman of the house wouldn't be happy if me being on the phone screwed with Netflix or Hulu streaming. I'm assuming it doesn't take up too much bandwidth, does anyone know if it's intrusive? Last edited by draghn; 07-25-2011 at 07:28 PM. |

Re: Did you get an Airave?
Well, it only takes up as much bandwidth as you're using! So if you're streaming movies, it'll take that bandwidth out of your inet connection.
And for the chat rep saying they have to go to your house and test? wtf? you should have said 'ok' just to see what happened - I've never heard of that anywhere. |
This post has been thanked 1 times. |

I hadn't heard of that either, and told the rep (Rocky B. was the name... hah) that it seemed odd to have people sent out, but he was insistent I HAD to do that to get Airave. I wonder what would have happened... The next person I spoke to said she wouldn't know how to even set that up. |

Re: Did you get an Airave?
Well after over an hour on and off/on hold with Sprint I was informned that infact I do qualify for a free Airave. Wait hold on........Nevermind....we were gonna give you the airave free to fix our shitty service in your house, but I see you already have 4 lines on your account and thats all you qualify for so......psych!!!!! Just kiddin!!!! nevermind you are not gonna get an airave...even though its free! Even though we provide you with fair to poor service in your area we would rather you suffer with your four 4g phones that maybe sometimes actually get 1x data reception.....lol....sprint is a joke....been with them for 15+ years spending $200 a month.....only been late a few days a handful of times and Im still on the spending limit plan.......it almost makes me feel bad that Ive been scamming them for a 25% employee discount for over five years after I changed jobs!!!NOT!! Grrrr....everytime I call them I get Pissed so bad..........sorry

Re: Did you get an Airave?
I had to lead them into it. Sprint CS sucks so you have to lead them to the conclusion you need the airrave to solve the issue. After about an hour of rubbing their nose in the piss on carpet they understood what needed to be done.
However, they shipped mine to the wrong address. Called CS and they shipped another to the wrong address. I called retentions and they shipped me 2 - one for work and one for the home. I tracked down the other two and they are being shipped to me as well so I'll have one for travel and a spare for my brother's house which gets no reception. I guess what I'm saying is while they are idiots, use their incompetence to your advantage. |
