I did get one for free. I do not pay a monthly fee. Just call and ask them about it. They confirmed I was in a troubled area and offered it up. I didn't even have to ask for it to be free.

Same here except I went through chat. They did have be call Telesales to order it. From what I was told by my Sprint Rep is they are no longer charging for basic service on the Airave. |

Re: Did you get an Airave?
I hope they don't charge you. I cancelled my Airave 5 months ago... and the $20 monthly charge was on every bill after that. I called CS each of the first 4 months to complain and try to get it cancelled correctly and get a credit, always with empty promises. Finally I got it done, when I called to cancel my lines and move them to Verizon.
So learn from my headache. If you pay for the service and cancel, check your bill for the first couple of months after the cancellation to make sure they actually cancelled it correctly.

Re: Did you get an Airave?
EDIT: Removed the wrong quote lol.
I didn't really know about this until I read it here on PPCGeeks! The signal in my home was always 2-3 bars on my TP2. The Evo is the same, but doesn't drop any calls where my TP2 did; I have no idea if that's a coincidence or not. When I talked to a Sprint representative and told them I'd read online that people are getting something called Airave to better their signal at home, they had me call an Airave tech support person who looked up my address, confirmed I was in a "fair" area which qualifies for free Airave... then they sent it out after approving me for a second line on my SERO-P account. It is supposed to be completely free. The very first chat representative I spoke with said I would have to schedule an appointment to have technicians come out and test the signal at my place. I told him thank you and moved on to another chat representative that got this all going for me. I don't have the unit yet, but I'm hoping this increases my signal and works well at my place. I am on a 10mbit cable connection and the woman of the house wouldn't be happy if me being on the phone screwed with Netflix or Hulu streaming. I'm assuming it doesn't take up too much bandwidth, does anyone know if it's intrusive? Last edited by draghn; 07-25-2011 at 07:28 PM. |

Re: Did you get an Airave?
The $20 per month charge is to have up to three devices use the Airave for unlimited incoming and outgoing calls. I used it for my son and two daughters, all of whom are teenagers, to save money on my bill each month. Now that they are older and have their own accounts (or most of them), I no longer needed the Airave.
