As a workaround I just delete the key and ICS will show you the menu to choose sprint vs PAM. However this does not stick after soft reset. You will have to do it again.

That's where I'm at. I tried to make a cab that deletes it but I have to soft reset before it takes and I'm not trying to soft reset just before tether everytime... easier to just use TC and delete the key then go to ICS tab... hope someone figures out where/how sprint built in a kicker...

There is NOT such a file called "HTC_CM_Guardian.exe" in the /device/windows on my Sprint Touch Diamond WM6.1 (CE 5.2.20764 (Build 20764.1.4.3) ROM 2.00.651.7. So far, I can't flash my ROM, nor make "ForceCellConnection" change to stay after trying every trickies you guys said.

i Just used a plain ol reg editor and so far they've stayed put. I haven't done a soft reset or anything though

I'm having the same problem. With the new rom [CE OS 20764 Build 20764], you can't change "ForceCellConnection" to "Sprint". "Phone as Modem" keeps coming back in the value. I tried deleting the "ForceCellConnection" and created a new one. Once I created that entry, the value is automatically changed to "Phone As Modem" after you navigate to other entry and check it back. [Note: I can change the value of other entries under HKLM. Looks like there is a process or program that is checking the "ForceCellConnection" value and it rewrite the "Phoen As Modem" to the value once it is changed to something else.
Can anyone figure it out how to solve that problem?

I'm wondering if it resets other simple changes that are not holding with this rom update. One of the users can't get the vibrate/ring function to stay put either.. .I suggested he try this cab.

I have a simple fix that works. I changed the registry value from "Phone As Modem" to "Sprint PCS", but the trick is to check off the box that says to keep as default value data (using CeRegEditor). I tried to soft reset and the internet sharing works every time. Can someone else verify this works on their phone?

On the Diamond and Pro it's just "Sprint" for the value instead of Sprint PCS
