I've never heard of sprint charging PDAs for data overage, if u have a data plan. They are going to cee the usage regardless. the trick is, under which username is the usage under? this fix is to use the primary username and not a phone as modem username. if u have a PAM plan, then this fix is probably not for u. but if u dont have a PAM plan, then "this fix is your get". this workaround allows u to use ur primary username for internet sharing also, therefore defeating the need of a PAM plan

I have an unlimited data plan and I do not have a PAM plan. My Diamond is tethered and shows SPRINT not SPRINTPCS.
I did some research and it appears that Vision Usage on my account summary is Cummulative. So I will assume that the 4gb usage I am seeing is the data I have used over the last few months.
I show 2gb last month and 4gb this month which means I have used 2gb so far this month.
All I do is alot of internet browsing and watch a movie here and there.
Btw, all I had to do was connect my Diamond to my laptop and go to internet sharing and press Connect and I was tethered.

No fix or workaround. I am using the stock rom. I just clicked on Internet Sharing, etc. as described before.
I was already to pay a few bucks for pdanet or wmwifirouter until I saw that I was able to tether without those programs.
The only issue I am having is that my Diamond looses juice the longer I stay connected. It seems that the tether is drawing more juice than my Diamond can pull from the usb port, if that makes sense.
But sometimes my Diamond pulls in more juice than it loses. It may depend on the intensity of the browsing I am doing at the time?

Yea, heavy browser activity definitely takes a toll on the phone.
i wudnt use pdanet unless i necessarily have to IMO

I thought Sprint would not see the data usage. My Diamond does not register anywhere near what sprint.com is showing me regarding the data usage.

I use around 15~25 GB month never have problems I have the sprint everything plan, I guess it will depend witch plan do you have.

I did some research and it seems that the 5GB cap does not apply to the Sprint Everything plans but it does apply to the unlimited data plans, which is why customers would like the description "Unlimited" changed.
Whether Sprint keeps a close Eye on this cap is another story. It appears that you have to go over the limit multiple times before any action is taken.

only 5GB limit i know of is with connection cards, not PDAs

just installed the cab w/o the backlight changes and now tethered via bt...getting rid of my data card immediately.
