Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!

I have a windows vista 64 laptop. To tether with bluetooth I follow this procedure (phone and computer have been "paired" and active sync has been setup). 1. On Phone... open Programs/active sync... choose menu on the bottom right soft key and "connect via bluetooth".. it go through the motions of connecting to your pc and establishing a sync. 2. On phone... Open Programs/Internet Sharing.. in PC Connection box choose Bluetooth PAN In network connection box choose Sprint. Click "connect" on bottom left softkey. 3. Now, on my laptop I had to go to start/connect to and then had a choice of connections one being bluetooth.. I click that and choose connect. And I"m set to go. I may have had to set up the bluetooth internet connection once on my laptop so the option was there.. .very similar to setting up connection for any new network. Observations.. tethering with usb is much faster and much more simple.. simply connect usb, choose active sync and then internet sharing and connect.. you're good. no need to choose anything on the laptop. And surfing speed is faster. Also I choose the option to allow calls. For the Pro the process is pretty much the same. I found that the Pro disconnects more often with bluetooth than with usb without warning... but I haven't trouble shot it since I mostly tether with the Diamond (my phone) than the Pro (b/f's phone). |

Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!
All of a sudden the following issue came up:Now when I am tethering, my connectivity window says Phone as Modem. It used to say SPRINT. also even when I am not tethering or even when my phone is idle, my connectivity window says Phone as Modem. I have to go to Communications and turn off Data, then when I start a Data session, my connectivity says SPRINT which is how it should be. But when I tether again my connectivity changes to Phone as Modem. I then have to turn the Data off and start the whole thing all over again. I may have changed a setting inadvertently which is creating this issue but I am unable to figure what is causing this. It may have to do with Activesync or something. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!
When you go to internet sharing do you have a choice in the dropdown window to change phone as a modem to sprint? It could be you accidently hit that and it defaults to the last used setting. Check that first.
Did you upgrade to the leaked sprint rom? I recall that there is an issue with the reg edit not sticking on this setup. Recheck your reg edit to be sure you have it set to either a choice (delete entire key for force cell connection) or Sprint only.. replace "Phone as a Modem" with "Sprint" Soft reset recently? |

Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!
my connections say sprint except when i am tethering. then it says phone as a modem.
I cannot find a drop down menu where it says Phone as a Modem. When I go to Internet sharing, the drop down menu says USB and Bluetooth PAN. I have it on USB as always. I have the stock ROM on my Sprint Diamond. Any additional suggestions would be appreciated. "'The Remote Party Has Ended This Connection" This is the pop up message i am getting when i try to connect with the sprint connection #777. When i sucessfully tether, it says Phone as Modem and on my connection, it says My Connection and Cellular Line. Has Sprint started to prevent customers from tethering withiut paying for PAM? It appears something has changed because i have had no problems for a month. I did reach 5GB which may have prompted sprint to initiate certain protocols.
