OK let me break it down
I called my close friend that works in KC for sprint, he broke it down for me. This is how devices get made, Htc and sprint starts to talk about future products, Htc gives sprint a description on whats in the pipeline, sprint give htc an order sheet with descriptions and request they meet in the middle.
With in the last month sprint submitted a order for a follow up evo device with and without keyboard. At least 4.3 on both with msm8x60 chipset front facing camera, 4g, and speaker phone. Htc is suppose to deliver a number of mocks to sprint by nov 20. A final decision on the design of the device will be made before the new year and testing will began in jan-feb for a april may launch with gingerbread.

I called him to find out about wp7 and why are the specs so bad, and why is it releasing so late. He told me that its not sprint its MS they held up cdma testing even though they had devices to test for a while, secondly there is a big update to wp7 thats happening end of first quarter beginning of second quarter 2011 most of the developers know about this update, and he believe thats why MS held up cdma launching. Now he has no reason to lie to me so im taking his word because hes been more right then wrong in the past. He did show me the evo almost a half year before it came out. So thats all i know. Now i have to say sometimes his timetables are wrong but his devices are never wrong.

Man I hope that is true. An Evo with a tilting keyboard and dual core processor is definitely something to get excited about.

It would be hilarious if that was released around the same time as the pro 7.

It boils down to this..will HTC actually put in a dual core processor..or will they just put in MSM8255(1ghz 2nd gen) or (QSD8650A 1.3ghz 2nd gen) and call it a day..my guess is on the QSD8650A...

next thing would be whether or not Galaxy S goes with an Epic 2 or just the standard Galaxy S 2..since knowing sprint they won't release 2 phones with same form factor for the high end branch...(unless they get a revelation next year)

Two things the WP7 will launch at minimum a month in front of the rumored evo 2 or evo 2 pro. Sprint would not release a new os and then a more powerful older better os it would be a sales disaster, if wp7 pro launch late march then evo 2 pro late april at the earliest. Whenever sprint launches a major device (i.e pre, evo , epic, tp2, wp7 pro) it makes sure it has a 30-60 day window of little to no competition,(non-smartphones dont count) (another example look at oringinal diamond to tp1 42 days gap) to cannibalize sales, but Im hopeing that magically the wp7 pro launches late feb early march (I know wishful) then evo 2 pro comes out late april. But it would be nice if a good wp7 device comes out I still want wp7 but not with the wp7 pro specs.

Secondly the hummingbird chipset can be clocked up to 1.3 with stability from samsung (told to me by my kc tech friend but alot of people know that) but does drain more battery, with little added heat but for that to happen sprint would have to be requesting a follow up epic and he did not say anything about that due to the fact probably the epic is wayyy too new the evo started development in 2009 hence a follow up needed.

Now he did tell me sprint asked for msm8x60 chipset to go head to head with motorola droid enterprise launching early second quarter with a dual core 1.2-1.3 processor but motorola itself has stated that it will be launching a device like this. So thats no secret and due to motorola having an handshake agreement with verizon sprint wants to compete hence the msm8x60 processor. Now if it pans out who knows.

So you expect MSM8660 (1.2ghz dual core 3rd gen) vs OMAP4440 ( 1ghz dual core w/ SGX540 ) vs Orion (1ghz dual core with crazy gfx..my guess made by nvidia) vs Tegra 2 (1 ghz dual core) for next year?

Evo2: MSM8660
Droid: OMAP4440
Galaxy S: Orion
LG: Tegra 2

Yea thats my and my friends reasoning for thinking msm8x60 and not 8x55 only because everybody else is launching dual core so why would sprint not launch dual core also and the fact that evo was a top notch device so its only right that the evo 2 be the best, and they asked for msm8x60 but price does play a part the evo was suppose to have msm8x55 but price and development time played a role. (at least thats what i was told) 2011 is going to be a good year for android, I just hope and pray wp7 can hold its weight.

If we get an Evo 2 with tilting keyboard and dual core processor, I don't care what Win phone 7 does. I really hope that happens. If it does, my guess would be June, since that is when the Evo launched.

Re: Touch pro 7 (touch pro 3 but rename) EPIC FAIL

It would be awesome if he had any say in the design selection... Because if they go ahead with an Evo 2, they had better keep it sexy. No weird curves, just a rectangular device. No chrome either. Keep it something sleek and professional-looking. I don't need a shiny plastic phone.

But... IM EXCITED. I hope this happens
