This is because you did not install WPM. The TCPMP OEM does not contain the WM9 dlls to avoid conflict with the WPM OEM. In any case, to get windows media support you must select the WPM option.

Vista Deviations

As noted above in a few posts above, there are apparently a few alternations that are needed to get Kitchens working on Vista. Is there any summary of these available through PPCGeeks?

the only thing you have to do special in Vista is to disable USB in Windows Mobile Device Center (Control Panel -> Mobile PC -> Change connection settings -> uncheck allow usb connections)

If you include both SPB Shell and SPB Weather you will get a BuildOS error stating that "CitiesDb.dat" already exists. I tried deleteing it from SPB Weather both then it will not run once installed. It states that it is missing and can't find it. I did not try to delete it from SPB Shell and install it. I just left SPB Weather out of my rom.

I had the 6 button and weather panel as well, I also froz on the WM screen, several soft-resets later, safe-mode kicked in (from SBP Plus I think) and I was able to tinker, but it would never come up normally.

I did a hard reset, and, oddly enough, weather panel stopped updating. I could do all other data related tasks, including looking up locations from within weatherpanel, but it wouldn't actually pull a forecast.

I hadn't messed with Live at all when that happened.

spb weatherplanel and mobile shell can't be installed at the same time to this kitchen... both of them use a cities.db file (or similar filename) - so there's a conflict when adding them both to the rom..

(They can run together if installed via cab..)

Need someone to confirm/deny this issue, but I'm seeing a problem where I can't get the "Reminder" notification to pop up. I see the bell in the top task bar, and "Reminder" appears in my bottom bar, but clicking "reminder"/using the softkey have no effect.

More SPB issues awaiting confirmation

This may be unique to me due to me making edits to the OEM so it included my serial, but currently SPB Phone Suite's icons don't show for me.

The two citiesdb.dat files are different (spb_weatherpanel's is bigger, spb_mobileshell's is newer). Someone try the following:

Copy the CitiesDB.dat from spb_weatherpanel to spb_coreservices
Delete CitiesDB.dat from spb_weatherpanel
Delete CitiesDb.dat from spb_mobileShell
Rebuild ROM, adding spb_Coreservices

report back with success/failure if you try this. If it fails, try again but with the CitiesDB.dat from spb_mobileShell in spb_coreservices.

[EDIT: Nevermind. The two CitiesDB.dat are do not contain the same or similar data. See my later post for how to fix this]
