MSVC Not Working

I'm still working on getting MSVC to work on my phone. Running PR5 here. Nothing else installed except the stuff in the Extended Rom (stock from Verizon).

Something new to add: Generally, MSVC doesn't work at all, or when it does, it quickly crashes due to low memory and won't restart. I went into the registry and changed: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand, Name="LaunchAPEnable", Value= FROM "1" to "0". No reason to change it other than "it was there".

Now, MSVC sometimes starts, sometimes it doesn't. Mapping to Button 5 doesn't bother it at all, when its working, and the low memory error only happens about half as often.

Anybody have ANY ideas at all on this?

Other than that, I really like this ROM. Thanks for all your hard work.

Free up some memory. I think one of the ROMS here have a huge amount of space reserved for the glyph cache. If that's the case with this one, then maybe reduce it to default.

Also, I think people have a tendency to forget that the camera/video (and voice recording) options default to saving to the main memory....eating away tons of space. Space can diminish quickly from these things, as well as internet files, downloads, etc. Then the phone will start having issues and it's all too easy to point fingers at the ROM.

If your memory isn't the problem, you might try double clicking voicecmd.exe in windows. Does VC run then? If so, maybe something about your shortcut is messed up. If that doesn't help, then, if it were me, I'd probably delete the exe, go extract it again, reinsert in windows, and so forth... Somehow or other, it oughta work!

Thanks for the dialer. It looks great and works as described.

When I installed it and rebooted my phone seemed to lock up somewhere in the boot sequence. After the third restart it ran fine.

Although it seems it takes my phone longer to start now...not sure if its related. I recommend a timed speed test before and after.

Raging Idiot: Let me know how it works for you. I really like the large buttons. Makes it alot easier to dial those numbers with out making the wrong button press.

I would like to know how to remove the SprintPCS text at the top, but this really is a nonissue for me. It might bother some though.

Raging Idiot: I did a hard reset back to PR5. I then changed the limit of the glyph cache to 8192(hex), but I'm still getting the low memory error.

Jendand: Double clicking the actualy .exe doesn't make a difference. I've also installed MSVC from two difference PC's to the phone to get the .exe out. No change.

Don't know if this helps, but I seem to be going through a sequence of errors.
Reset 1: Out of Memory error as soon as I start VC
Reset 2: Phone freezes on startup.
Reset 3: VC works fine for a period of time, sometimes hours, and then it inexplicibly quits or freezes.

This cycle more or less repeats itself.

If I post the Extended ROM info here, can someone tell me what's needed and what isn't. Its the only other thing I can think of that would be different than other phones.

cebain: Did you hard reset after installing the rom (Two front soft keys and a soft reset - not the buttons shown in the pic during the flash as these are wrong). I know a few people had memory issues when they did not do this.
- Are you using VC 1.6?
- Are you using the full version? You need to use the full version and not a trial.
- Have you installed VC (from the setup or cab file) directly to the device and did it work?
- How are you extracting/getting your exe's?
If you answerd these earlier forgive me as I ouly had a min to jump on here.

Anyone getting BT PAN to work? For the life of me mine will not and I have tried a number od BT stacks. I beleive either my songle is having issues or this is just flat out not working??

Also wanted to note that the wmodem app is still in the ROM as you can use it via IR. I left it in as a fallback for when I did not have cables for my laptop and wanted online.
