Well unfortunately that whole thing is shrouded in mystery. For example, when the checkbox is set, how often does the time get synced to the network? Is it just on soft reset, or on a schedule of some kind, or only during full moons? I keep meaning to test it by purposely setting the time off by a few minutes and seeing when (if ever) it gets corrected.
Thanks for the checkbox reg entry... I didn't know what it was, but figured it had to exist somewhere. But you don't have to leave the box unchecked in order to get the time to sync on hard reset--there's a button underneath for that to initiate a one-off sync. It's times like this when I wish there was complete documentation for all Windows Mobile features. And hopefully for Crossbow, MS will improve the welcome wizard so that it autodetects if the device has a phone radio and sets the time automatically first thing. Then we wouldn't need to hack around it! |

you know.. I've fought that blasted time thing for a long time, and was major annoyed by it.
You all make me feel better. Seems i'm not the only one "annoyed" by the whole thing. snicker. tracking the bluetooth.. A2DP still has skipping, checking the Priority256 reg entry now. |

Here's a quick summary response to most of the issues i'm seeing in the thread (if i missed one sorry, you can post it again and yell at me if ya like )
Adding MSN: I will not by including this in my revision of the kitchen as i'm trying to keep mine as a baseline/tutorial still. However if you want MSN all you need to do is copy the MSN1-3 folders to the OEM directory before building. I added them to a zip file on the ftp at: ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Apache/ImCoKeMaN/MSN.zip No USB support: I know about this one and this is my sole focus right now. USB does not connect with the PC (except in bootloader). This means activesync does not work for your contacts. In the meantime you can sync to mail2web before upgrading and then you will be able to get your contacts after you flash AKU 3.5 since wireless sync does work. For file transfer i use a usb adapter for the mini sdcard as a workaround now also. Timesync: Yes i've gone through this too. I'm not working on EXT_ROM type stuff yet, but this can be fixed under settings ->phone -> services -> Time Synchronization. Just make sure to check the checkbox and hit update now. Watch the clock it should be accurate, but you can hit it again if it didn't take. Hmm i guess i should post this in the first post too. editing time... |

And when we say USB does not work, does the thing still charge off USB? And if it does, does the charge light ever turn Green? |

I have been charging the phone solely off of the USB on the computer so that is still working. As for the lights i've been doing so many different settings and reflashes it's hard to say at any given point, but i have had it work completely normally. Yellow when charging and green blink (batt power) when complete.
Oh and if you have a sprint OEM package setup can you post it on the FTP or at least PM me so i can beta test it. It would make my resets MUCH easier =) |

Yep, later today... (@work now, home in a couple hours) but its untested - nothing really dangerous in it, but I am assuming I got it right and that can be a bad thing

1. Bluetooth worked after a couple resets. However using A2DP over it, once the backlight shut off, the btooth died, nothing but a reset got it back, and it still went south when the backlight shut off. A2DP didnt work any better or worse than w/ .3 and .2 roms {boo hoo}....
2. Seems the timesynch DOES indeed work. You just have to be patient. A couple hard resets today, and a couple times not bothering to manually update the time, and I found that after about 10 minutes the silly bugger does fetch time automatically. Even better, once the clock gets synched up email goes ahead and downloads. Does this on this rom, as well as colonels, so the previously pointed out "problem" isnt really one at all. Setting the checkbox on will indeed get the phone to go fetch time from the network, just be patient and let it "get around to it". 3. thanks. I know nobody uses msn, but hey, my wife does and we all know who the real boss is . Simpler to put it back on the device than to explain to her that it sux rocks... snicker. |

Sprint OEM untested package attached here - not ready for putting up in the ftp site until someone verifies its OK
Let me know! Edit: In case its not obvious, this moves the latest Sprint extended rom stuff directly into the OS rom - it DOES NOT put any of the junkware in, nor any of the "patch" cabs designed to patch AKU2.x, but it is supposed to get you a fully sprintified OS on boot, ready to connect to EVDO. I didn't put the largish phoneon/off wavs in, as I like mine to be silent. I can add those wav files if anyone cares. You should *not* let (or need) the extended_rom cabs install on a cold boot, as that kinda defeats the purpose of this OEM. It does install the IOTA package for you, in the right place (which means it has to be copied into \Program Files\IOTA, and eats a bit of storage memory) but again this is more about ease of HARD RESET use then space savings (although you should save a few 100kb this way) |
