makecab _setup.xml myemail.cab

Presto change. sourced from msdn about 6 months ago, and tested to ge tit right. works for me quite well on 3.3 and 3.5 roms.

the only issue is that my exchange server pukes unless the time/date is set.

Time sync works, but it doest "automagically" start up after the timesync cab is installed.

Right now i have to "quickly" get into the phone settings and update date/time fast.

Anybody know how to the get ppc to sync right after the phone is setup? then i wouldn't care too much about hard resets, the phone fully sets back up mostly on its own (after setting the screen up at least)

If you are using mail2web, you can actually download the cab file that will set up ur email. Its on the accounts setup page.

Well now you can set the date/time manually as part of the Setup/Welcome wizard after a hard reset, so you can just set it there, right? Get something close and then later you can go into the phone app and sync time with the carrier.

I'm not sure you have many other options here. There are other apps that will sync time over the internet, but they would require the #777 connection be provisioned first. It could be dicey, but here is one I have used in the past:

http://www.slipstreamsolutions.co.uk.../mTimeSync.htm

Of course, setting the time takes only a few seconds, so you may find it's easier to just do that manually.

Quick side question, if you are not able to get a USB connection, are you still able to connect in bootloader mode?

Nice work on the mail cab. I set up one for my pop3 account since I am always flashing. I will put an example for this in the wiki at some point. You might want to add your process as well.

Bluetooth doesnt work either.

BootLoader shouldn't be affected by the USB issues tho.

I'll reflash shortly let you know.

Colonel: You're registry performance tweaks. Do you have a link/list of those. Cause w/o a doubt of all firmwares i've used yours gives an overall better "feel" for performance, and i'd like to get most of those in to this load.

On the time thing, way back when we had to add our own timesync page i seem to recall that i had a registry setup that would get it to synch on its own after the first reboot. O course that is/was ages ago and it hasnt work since the first sprint upgrade rom for me.

was hoping somebody knew the difference and why it might not work. Guess I could look at the timesync cab sprint ships. maybe it's doing something.

Bootloader should be fine because it's basically its own OS... doesn't utilize the Windows CE side of things at all.

The cab file from Sprint is just a registry entry. The time sync "app" is part of the phone app on the device, it is just hidden by default. The Sprint cab sets a registry entry that unhides the time sync page. Here it is:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\OEM\PhoneSetting\
HiddenTimeSyncPage = 0 (dword)

I am not aware of any other registry settings that can further control the time sync function, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Maybe someone else knows.

thx.. saves me looking..

I have a cab that "adds" the check box to turn it on, and indeed its "turned on" on a reset, but it doesnt sync.

My cab used to do both unhide it, and check the box. Then after a reset it would automagically get the time. Now it never tries to get the time until i do a "update now".

Wierdness.

<characteristic type="HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA" translation="filesystem">
<parm name="SyncSystemTime" datatype="integer" value="1"/>
</characteristic>

I'll have to not run my "set the checkbox" and set the checkbox manually.. followed w/ a reset .. maybe i need to do more when i set the checkbox.
