I got into bootloader mode, ran MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and tried to get AKU 2.2 installed, but no go. Get the error:

Error 150: ROM UPGRADE UTILITY ERROR

This ROM update utility is note designed for your device. Please get the proper ROM Upgrade Utility and try again.

I had just finished upgrading to the new PPC-6700 ROM, downloaded from the Sprint website, prior to attempting an AKU 2.2 update. Ideas?

Jammrock did u try reflashing again? Because this is the first time I hear this error. Make sure u put into bootloader first then connect to usb, then run the upgrade.

Jammrock I had the same issue! I corrected it by going into device manager, there was a device with an exclamation mark, I choose to reinstall drivers. It could not find a file named wceusbsh.sys. I pointed the wizard to C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers. This did the trick for me.

Has anyone used the AKU 2.2 ROM and tried to Sync with Windows Media Player? For some reason the storage card doesn't show up in WMP11 on my desktop, so that I can transfer rented music. Any suggestions?

Re: How To: Get AKU 2.2 on your 6700!

So can those who have done this let us know what exactly you gain from doing this?

I'm considering it, but on the fence.

Pluses would be
- less junkware pre-installed, smaller reserved flash space bigger usable internal flash
- no loss of current Sprint functionality (ring thru, data roaming, do I need to re-do my PRL update???)
- any new WM features?

Current Minus:
- will mean a hard reset, have not had to do that yet.

It will not has less junkware, not now but when I do create a full custom upgrade that includes the ext rom. This doesnt as of now. I have one made, just havent shared because it has what I use (most arent freeware) but will be making another soon. I recommend a full upgrade before doing this, but like I stated earlier soon it will be a full custom upgrade including OS, ExtRom, and the newest radio version from Sprint. I also may do one for you Verizon users out there. A few new features, I noticed the end button when held for x amount of mins kills the data connection. And a few others posted on the page before this by Paul Hammons.

So... I should wait for your full custom upgrade?

I'll wait then- no need to do it twice.

But yeah, please do shave it down if possible to have a smaller fixed partition (I saw over at xda they have an 8mb version for some other platform) - that would totally rock. More internal store is good.

Wooo I dont know about 8mb or even anything that major. Im not sure what all you could remove to even do that and have a working OS! I would personally wait, if you want my ext rom and all. But the choice is urs.
