Re: [Updated:12/13]How To: Get AKU 2.2 on your 6700!
[quote=...Extract them to the desktop open the the folder. Read the readme and run the .exe, same as the offical ones, BUT your PPC HAS TO BE IN BOOTLOADER MODE BEFORE running the .exe. (Hold power button, notes key, and soft reset)
Enjoy your new AKU! Mike [/quote] Does this mean we have to hard reset the ppc?, what is bootloader mode? (sorry for the dumb ?s) |

Also, Keep in mind, that this WILL hard reset your phone, so like it was stated before, Make shure to back up contacts and such beforehand... (actually youll hard reset it twice, Once when it loads the AKU, and agin when it locks up on the first boot)

Tried the ROM today.
I did the update on my Sprint PPC6700 and did not have any problems at all with the simple directions. I could not find the crossbow screens and my phone did not seem to be that much faster at all.
My Phone is setup the following way. Main Storage Extended rom is viewable and is named "Extended Memory" 9.9mb Storage Card (1GB) I backedup the Extended ROM to my SD Card and PC and use the almost 10MB of space to run the following. Voice Command v1.6 Resco File Exloper /FTP/TodayPlugin/Regedit Phone Alarm v1.58 SPB Weather Resco Keyboard Sprite Backup v5.1 Pro ShareIT FTP Server PIEPlus v2.11 Still have 2.2mb free Everything in the Extended Memory Area is compressed with UPX. One thing that is nice is that the Sprite Backup software alows you to do a "Update" restore to your phone. So if you do a ROM update it will not over write ROM Files or will prompt you before it overwrites something. Like I said the ROM load went fine, I would like to see a clean version with all the tweaks and faster. Also really want to see the Crossbow look. jim |

First, my ROM u should see a pick up in speed and with this one also. Crossbow from a factory upgrade? I think not. I simply added the theme to my ROM and nothing else. So don't expect crossbow til MS releases it. :P

I have been using the AKU 2.2 ROM for over a week now and today I tried to tether via USB for the first time since loading this ROM and was unsuccessful. I had no problem with this in the old ROM using the Wireless Modem application that Sprint provides free with the 6700.
Has anyone else had luck tethering with this new ROM. Also, I still have the battery icon in the top corner of the today screen. Is this now configurable? Earlier posts have commented that this icon is no longer in the new ROM on the Today screen. |

Did you do a hard reset before loading the new rom? I had some problems and it was because I didn't hard reset before starting the update. I hard reset and reloaded the new rom and all is well.

I am not familiar with UPX but I have read wideawakes instructions on creating a custom ROM and want to give it a try. From jimeverett's post above I gather you can compress the cab files before you put them into the extended rom and they will uncompress when they are executed from the program directory. Is it that simple?

Also, everytime I hard reset my PRL update goes back to 20224 from 20225. Is this normal. |
