eessienu,
The kitchen installer and OEM package are intended to run on a PC, not your phone. You use them to create and flash a new rom image to your phone.
It's been over a week since I last did this, and things may have changed. This is what I remember:
1. Download and run the kitchen installer file. This will create a new folder called \BuildOS on the c: drive of the computer. It will also create a couple shortcuts on the desktop.
2. Download the ppcgeeks OEM file - save it to the new c:\BuildOS folder.
3. Read the tips.txt in the c:\BuildOS folder.
4. Read the first 3-4 pages of this thread (at least)
5. Go to the desktop, double-click on the chef icon, and cook your rom (don't be too greedy; you'll have to do it over again).

[Dang I type too slow....]

Have you tried shining a bright light on the screen to see if you can see any words? The bootloader screen has no backlight. If you shine a light on the screen while in bootloader you should see words on the screen. You may have already tried this, but suggesting it just in case. I guess you are saying the screen is backlit when you do a hard reset, meaning you see it fin when you hard reset.

Right. I have looked with a light, there are definitely no words on the screen. When I do a hard reset the backlight does light up and I can see everything fine. If I can figure out how to get to the bootloader, I can reflash back to a working ROM, but from what I've tried there isn't a way to get there.

Are you using the power, record button and reset button simultaneously to try and enter bootloader? I know this is a dumb question but I am just trying to throw things out because sometimes it's the simple that is being missed. I hope that is the case because this is a problem I have not had.

Unfortunately I've tried all different combinations of pressing the buttons. Holding the power button, then holding the record button with it then pressing the reset too, pressing all the buttons at the same time, etc. But yes, regardless of what sequence I use to press them, they're always pressed simultaneously. It's not a problem I can find anybody else having either :S I'm beginning to see a grim future for my phone...

This is for us new to the Kitchens, Is there any thoughts to Helmi or any of the other gurus on this site to take this kitchen and create a "service pack" upgrade to those of use using Helmi's WM6 upgrade to fix the known problems? I have read info about an upgrade to the OS. Is this the equivlent or Windows 2000 ans XP? Or is this like a SP1, SP2 change in XP? What is a kitchen in regards to the OS?
