Re: |R|ROM|WWE| ★ Energy "Leo" 23518/21889 |Feb 1| ★ Sense 2.5.2011 / MaxManila ★

As I was looking around at some of the other ROMs that are available, I noticed some of them are setting the page pool to 16. When I look at the NRG ROMs, they appear to be set at 26. Has anyone changed the page pool setting to a lower number? Are there any drawbacks to lowering the number as it should increase the available memory. I was thinking of lowering it to see if it helped reduce the "low memory" errors, but I don't want to do it if it will cause other issues. Thanks.

Ill try it out and let you know how it goes.
edit: Didnt realize you have to change the page pool prior to flashing and Im not in the mood to reflash again right now. Guess I cant help sorry.
edit again: just changed my file system cache to 16. I think thats the same as changing the pp? Anyway gonna see how that goes.

I was thinking of doing the same...I just thought I would post to see if there are any big issues before I spend the time re-flashing. Thanks.

hmm.

Thanks again for the suggestion.
Thanks again num5kull for the suggestions. For what it's worth, here is what it ended up being:

After flashing 4 different roms in order to troubleshoot, it ended up being nothing at all. Evidently, all I had to do is run the HTC GPS Tool long enough. I took about 13 loops of 60 secs before getting a lock. I didn't realize that it would take so long to get an initial lock. So basically i needed to let it run for 15 minutes or so. I have never had to do this, but it did the trick. GPS is working great now.

did I mention that i LOVE this rom? Oh yeah, i did.

Looking at the performance settings in advanced config the rom is set to file cashe auto but has 2mb advised. When I changed the cashe to 16kb the Home screen weather animations definitely seemed slower but when I opened Opera it definitely didnt use as much memory. Normally it shoots me up to 90% but it was "only" at 81%. Changing it now to 2mb to see if theres a difference.

edit: on 2mb Opera still takes up about 15% of memory however with Opera open to a webpage and streaming music I was "only" using about 90% of memory with no slow down which is pretty decent I think. You may have hit on something here buddy.

Well, as much as I hate to do another hard reset, I think I am going to go ahead and bite the bullet and lower the page pool to see if that can help. i am really tired of having to reset the phone multiple times a day because it is out of memory. I will let you know my findings if you are interested. Thanks.

***Update - I did reflash the 23518 Feb. 1 with the page pool set at 16 instead of 26. After fresh boot and a hard reset, the available memory is about 83 MB. Now I need to set the phone up and see how the memory is after that.

Here is a strange one, I was able to get HDWalls to work on the 2/1 23518 2.5.2011 for the portrait wallpaper and skinning the taskbar and softkeys but when I put the phone in landscape orientation it uses the portrait wallpaper but in the portrait orientation. I extracted the manila files that make up the landscape wallpaper and they are correct just that Sense does not use them for some reason. When I look in the settings there is no option for setting a landscape wallpaper. Did they take out landscape wallpaper support for this edition?

I noticed the same issue when going to landscape on mine.
