I change mine the same way as you do, but I have an additional line in my reg edit for my folders. my edit for my links looks exactly like yours. the edit for my folders looks like:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\ Internet]
"Group"=dword:00000001
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Internet.png"

Does anyone have Lockdevice 1.6 in an ext file, It works when installed from cab file, But when I tried to create it with cab to kitchen, it says theres a file, or permission missing!

Anyone have a good working ext file of it.

I made an app.reg for all my icon changes that I placed at the end of my EXTs. I was having trouble with the changes inside the settings folder sticking while cooking (connections, sounds and notifications, personal folder etc...) so I have a .cab installing during customization with those icon regedits in it and that worked fine. Just another route you can take if all else fails...

That doesn't always seem to work though. That's what happened w/me and my settings icons. Something was overwriting my regedits, but I was unable to find the problem.

Yea a provxml sets the Settings icons. The settings Icons also what have your typical reg entries. They look something like this:

"Icon"=\\Windows\\HTC_clear_storage.png"
You need to convert the app.reg into a provxml named like mxipupdate_zzCustomStartIcons_100.provxml.
