Sounds kinda like the issues with vibrate and ring not sticking and needing a cab to make it stick, but then that "locks" certain things in the advanced tab under phone. ](*,) Maybe Mal can take a look at it and figure out what gives. I don't have the show on screen set. Seems like something funky is going on with many of the notifications... Have you tried the cab Mal posted earlier for ring/vib that's included in the rom now? I wonder if running that will make the show on screen notification stick.

1) should update hard unlocker as firmware update before upgrading rom
2) since I am Verizon, may need to install kb fix?
3) appears that rom was fast and without issues in early builds but now has the
earmarks of all the major roms, ie. freezes, wrong location of items, need for
several cab and registry fixes.
4) I liked the advice to keep the roms clear of so many programs and have optional
cab installs
5) Is there a "sweet spot" in rom building where things are just right and no longer
need to have the newest and the greatest cooked in. If they need to be added
could this not be accomplished by reg edits and cab installs ( of course I realize
new revisions of OEM drivers, dll's etc. have to be put in).

6) I would like a few user replies before I try the 6.5 rom later tonight.

I am not sure exactly what your looking for, but, I have had the 6.5.x 2.1 since the minute mal realeased it. I have yet to have ANY issues with it. The only provisions I had to make was the MMS setup. Otherwise everything has been perfect. I have added a lot of personalization too it as well. Give it a try. If you don't like it, go back to stock. Your not out anything. No one is forcing you to change your rom.

I'm sorry. I did't mean it as an attack. But sometimes you just havee to venture out there. I have tried 4 different rom versions from others and IMO they don't compare to MAL's.

Darren,

Is there a trick to getting the Opera 9.7 to work? I have tried 2 different versions, 1 being the version you posted in here and they both lock up on startup. Any idea? TIA.

i load that opera on each rom i flash on 2 tp2s and always load on mainmem then softreset.used it on 3 mal builds(titanium/6.5/6.53) are you loading it on mainmem?
you can also delete the whole opera folder in windows then try, that works also but on mals roms i never had to.

That fixed it. I was installing on the storage card. The zoom cab for the zoom bar is also working perfectly. Thanks.

Hello All,
This is my first post and i'm sad to say the subject is not quite what I had hoped for... I flashed my very first ROM the other day... This ROM to be exact... And while Malatesta's ROM is nothing short awesome, I have a big problem now... My Touch Pro 2 (Sprint) just shut off one day... I figured no big deal right? Wrong... I went to start it up and it goes to what i'm guessing is the boot screen (Touch pro2 shown and a bunch of red numbers and letters at the bottom)... And it just stays there... I've let it run for at least an hour and it's still there... What do I do? Did I just brick my phone? Is there a way to flash even without the phone turning on? Please help as i'm obviously a noob at this... Thanks all in advance and hopefully this is an easy fix...

Have you tried a hard-reset? Pop the battery out, pop it in and hold the send/end/pwr buttons simultaneuosly. That sometimes does the trick.

HAHA! Thanks man... it did the trick... good thing I had Microsoft My Phone installed... now to back up everything... Thanks, again man. Good to see there's some really helpful people on here. Anyway, obviously i'm a noob. Could it be Malatesta's ROM or maybe just a fluke? Should I reflash to another ROM?!? What would you suggest?

Even with a stock ROM, things can get fouled up. More likely with most of the custom ROMs, but installing a new application, changing a setting, etc. can sometimes screw things up. IF this has something to do with MAL's ROM, it probably occurred after you installed a program or changed a particular setting. I think MAL's ROMs are pretty solid "out of the box". Try to recall if you modified something just prior to the lockup.

...and if you figure out what caused the problem:
1. Don't do it again
2. Post the info here :)

As a matter of fact... I was just installing Pocket ZIP (I think that's what it was called)... I had loaded a .ZIP file I was wanting to unzip, and it was apparently going to take a while so I let my phone set. When I picked it up... whammy... it was off. So, yeah... pretty sure it was my bust, but again... i'm a noob. I paid for this phone straight out, so i'd like to see what it can really do... just don't wanna "break" it again...lol Thanks again, Geek.

You mentioned 'restoring for a backup' That can cause problems sometimes, especially if you flash a different ROM. You don't want to restore programs and such, maybe contacts, but nothing that would still retain the old stock or you can get things corrupted...

Chris, are you also on the most recent HSPL? I know you mentioned this is your first flashed ROM (very good choice btw) but you didn't say when you had actually unlocked. You might want to try updating to the latest HSPL, it will not HR your phone at all, and that was one problem many people were having. I personally had the same issue on other ROM's and can say it's not the ROM's issue, it's something with the phone. When you flashed to Mal's ROM, did you HR/clear storage after you flashed and before you did anything else? If not, make sure you do, and then start the rebuilding process. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Mal -- have you confirmed that the 6.5.3 1B6 release exhibits a bug where the alarm "dismiss" notification is absent? All other actions are availble (snooze 5 min, dismis all, etc.), but on my Sprint TP2 I can't see any individual alarm dismiss option.

so nobody else is having jerky scrolling in sense 2.1? You scroll to a tab and it will flip back to a different tab. so you have to rescroll back to the tab that you want.

Yes it happens to me....sometimes. It seems to happen after I have just closed an application and either memory low or the stupid thing is still busy doing something else. If I wait a minute, it smoothes out. I'm pretty sure it happened with the stock ROM and every other ROM I've tried, only worse. It looks like this particular problem is very much minimized with MalROM. This is the smoothest ROM I've ever tried.

I think the processor they use is barely adequate for what we are trying to do with this phone. I wish it had a snapdragon.........

Is anyone else having an issue with the above hard reset and 6.5 ROM? It clears everything, but when you push the VolUP button to reset it, the screen goes black, the green light stays on and it does nothing. You have to soft reset it to get it to come back.

The Clear Storage reset doesn't have the same problem.

Only with the 6.5 ROM, Jan 14 build.

Yeah, I'm trying to minimize that.

One option is to go Start --> Tools --> 3D --> glModeSwitch

Try that and see if it helps.

I've stopped using Manila myself and use my Titanium ROM (I'm a simple man, lol) so I don't notice this as much in that version. But I know what you are talking about.

For others: I'm trying to catch up on things, so sorry for my absence. As you could imagine, we've had a heck of a day at WME with press ;-) I'm also quickly making some Treo Pro ROMs (just because they need some), but I'll try to do an update sometime probably next week (there's nothing immediately important to fix, but always little things to do).
