How To unlock and flash with Video Walk Through!

Thanks for the reply! Just attempted my first ever flash with Mighty Rom 6 worked great and I am enjoying the rom. This was a great guide. One last final question if in the future a new flash is attempted (with a different rom) do we have to unlock again? Thanks again for the help and great guide.

I'm very new to flashing/unlocking, so bear with me please.

I have a brand new US Cellular HTC Touch Pro that I would like to unlock. The SPL is 0.40.0000. I went to the CDMA HSPL page you linked, and tried the Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_037.zip file. A few pages back you suggested that a USCC user like myself try this version of the file (since there is no specific file for USCC).

I get all the way through to the progress bar, then it hangs and says "Error [202]: Connection". It says to check that the USB cable is connected to the computer an the phone.

I'm using the stock HTC cable plugged directly into the USB ports on the back of my PC, and it activesyncs no probelm. What am I missing? Do I need a different HSPL? I'd love to get off my stock rom and try something newer.

may want to read on the unlock thread and see if you can flash the spl from the sd card. I THINK you can, but im not 100% sure. if you can that would eliminate any usb communication issues.

yes...the 37 hspl is for your phone.
you can unlock from the sd card, as mentioned by pyro following this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61333.

but, try this first.
click start-settings-connections-usb to pc, then uncheck the box under Activesync. then give it another go. should work now.

I changed the settings you recommended me, and it didn't work the first time. It went to the tri color screen, but it errored out on the PC side again. I rebooted the phone and tried again, and it worked!!

I'm downloading mightyrom 6 as we speak, I can't wait to try it.

I am reading through this post and many others and have read the rules, and firstly can i say you guys ROCK!

it is soo informative and easy to read,

but just a question i have that was not answered/did not see a answer to.

is there a way to backup my original phone's shipped rom so that in case i need to reflash it back to normal it would not be a issue, and yes i did dl the one from the stock sprint roms post(the shipped version)

I am getting mine Wed/Thursday and can't wait to play around with it!

i ran the might Rom app and when it started to go through the process where it shows the progress bar screen my phone reboots and this error message came up on the ruu screen. ERROR 244 invaled model ID? then it says the update utility cannot be used for your pda please check update utility. help?
