yeah i have the same problem. running as admin didn't fix anything. i downloaded a countless number of RUU and one of them started up but i got the 240 error and then i changed up a few things and tried it and then i got the 206 error. im running windows 7.

my friend installed a couple of different roms on my htc touch pro herman earlier this month but hes not around and i want to learn how to do it because the one i currently have is uber slow.

i have all of the files in the same folder because i read somewhere that if the nbh file isnt in the same folder as the RUU it gives the 240 error, but that didnt fix it.

when i put my phone in bootloader mode (RGB screen) it says
[Security Unlocked] at the top, and when its plugged into my laptop it says [USB] and when its not it says [Serial] at the bottom

i think i need a windows 7 compatible version because i read that its mainly for xp (or it works best with xp) i tried updating the driver with wceusbsh.sys but i just failed MASSIVELY.

give me an example of what you're doing. like, what you're downloading? what you're using to extract? where are you extracting to? what file you're opening? etc...etc...

And dont forget...you guys can just do everything on the phone, since you can't get it to work from computer. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61333

im trying to flash a new rom. im using rom update utility and ive seen numerous guides saying you have to put ur phone in bootloader mode before u start the RUU process. but when i put it in that mode my phone doesnt sync. and one of the crucial steps the guides say is that my phone needs to be synced. i downloaded the nfsfan's rom v1.05 because i heard it was the fastest and most stable rom. and i also downloaded a bunch of RUU's from a bunch of links on different sites. only one of them worked for me. but then gave me a 240 error as i stated in my first post.

im extracting all the files to a folder on my desktop called RUU. the nbh file and the RUU.exe file and all the others like EnterbootLoader.exe and RUUGetinfo.exe are all in that folder.

im extracting using winrar. and im opening the RUU.exe file but it just doesnt load. it just asks me if i want to run this program since im using windows 7 and i click yes and it doesnt do anything after that, the RUU.exe just sits there all smug, mocking me.

and i read somewhere that i can do it from a sd card but then i lost the link and forgot about it. but u say i can do it from my phone?? thats great!!!!

I am leary and new to all of this- have a motorola droid 2 from verizon but am now on alltel and want to keep the phone- is this possible with flashing?

To my knowledge, the problem is getting Alltel to activate it. CDMA carriers will usually only activate phones from their database of ESN's. This list is usually comprised of only phones that the company sells. Some companies like metroPCS will activate pretty much any phone, but I don't think Alltel is the same way. Maybe someone else has some further information on this question.
