Re: [3-9-09] KK's Loaded ROM v1.8 Sprint and Others [OS 5.2.21015 Build 21015] [UC]
All I can say is wow. I have had the Alltel TP for one week, and allmost all the other ROMs out there have a bunch of issues. KK has the best all around ROM. Great games, gadgets and interface.
I have only found about three programs that have issues, and I really do not use those, so I have no real problems. I do have a question or two though... Is there any way to remove the software that I do not use? Is there any other manilla themes (i am talking about the appearance)? Does any one have the Garmin Mobile XT cab w/US map data? And lastly, I have Alltel as a provider, but have to had the chance to get on the cell network (I am in Iraq currently), so I do not know if this ROM has the Alltel Radio in it. How can I know for sure that when I am in the States (on the way home) that I will have signal to call my wife? So, will this ROM allow me access to the Alltel network, or do I need a different Radio? Overall, this ROM is great (think I have hit Thanks quite a few times)! |

This ROM (and all ROMs in general) do not affect the Radio you are using. Radios and ROMs are 2 separate things requiring 2 separate flashes. ROMs usually do not include radios. If your phone has been activated on the Alltel network, then yes you will have access here in the states, but it must first be activated on Alltel. Radios can be found here. (there is a step by step of how to flash a radio in my signature, different radios give better service which leads to better battery life, the Telus 1.04 and Sprint 1.11 are generally regarded as the best. I'm not sure about the stock Alltel one, but the Stock Sprint is just terrible and is a must for Sprint users to flash to a different one. You may be ok with the Alltel stock) This radio thing is admittedly a little weird. I am on the Sprint Network, but I use the Telus Radio (Telus is a telecommunications provider in Canada). Your radio version only affects how well the device's radio interacts with the network. It does not affect the network you are on (the one your ESN is assigned to). In an earlier post, I equated it to changing the oil in your car. So in sum, Yes this rom will allow you access to the Alltel network (once you activate your phone on the Alltel network) (I'm also assuming by you being in Iraq and your screenname here, that you are in some branch of the military. I'd just like to say thank you for your service to this country.)

Okay, so the radio doesn't matter about connecting to towers, except to improve signal quality if needed. Thank you. My wife did activate the phone before she sent it to me, so I guess that I am good to go for calling.
I am actually very interested in the different radio capabilities and the technical side of the way they operate. If there is a cell tech available, or a site to read, it would be much appreciated. Again, great ROM KK. I hope that you can find the time to hit me back with the answers to the other questions I had, keep up the good work, and who knows, maybe I can help later down the road. Thank you for the troop support GoodGets, it is much appreciated. Almost done with the third deployment to Iraq, and might hit Afghanistan sometime in the future, who knows what will happen. Intelligence is needed all over the place.

Ok as promised I am going to list the items here that seem to be causing problems.
(please keep in mind that I did a hard reset after flashing and have soft reset to try and fix some of these issues, respectively) 1) The number bubble that appears on the email and txt icon tends to “stick” some times. 2) Palringo give and error that is in not a ppc program. 3) Battery life does seem a little bit shorter on this build. (I did read KK post about his 9 hour meeting) The faster battery drain my just be perceived, I am running the monitoring app right now so we will see. 4) I have never known a phone to have a “seizure” but this build seems to when ending a phone call. The screen flickers and you are not able to make another call for a second. Some times you are even pushed back to the home screen. These are the issues that I have run into and do not claim that they are happening to everyone. If someone has experianced these issues and found a solution please share so as to not waste KK's time. As always KK great rom keep up the good work!!!

Well I am trying to install the ROM and it gets to the part where you see the progress bar at 0% and it fails. I can reboot the phone and it starts back up just fine. Anyone have any ideas on why its not completing the install?

Not sure if this has already been answered, but is there a fix or tweak for opening links through RSS Hub? I would like a new tab in Opera to be opened whenever you click a link in RSS Hub. What happens instead is the current tab is used instead for the currently open Opera window, and it takes a LONG time to open the window and go to the link.
Thanks in advance! |
