Re: [ 9-19 ][ v3 ][ 6.5.1 / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual HTC Kitchen & ROMs

I'm sorry if this is a noob question, but I have searched and not fixed my problem, PLEASE help. The music tab will not see the music on my SD card. This has been the case with the last 2 kitchens. I have tried renaming/deleting the .vol file in application data and nogo. WMP sees the files no problem. I am able to update the WMP library without a problem. All was well in the 9/12 kitchen but the 9/16 and 9/19 have given me a problem. What am I doing wrong? PLEASE HELP. Thanks!

Text messaging locks up in 23053 for me as well. Everything else about the ROM is great. I love the square buttons on the bottom.

Just flashed using the kitchen, loving it so far.

I do want to get rid of the Panorama background, though, but I built it into the ROM. Is there any way to do this?

You could try deleting the XMEMediaLibrary.mlb in the MSMETADATA folder on your storage card. It's been a while since I messed with this trying to get my DRM files to play which never did. But I also know I, at some point, would also delete the file in the WMRDM folder on the storage card as well.
Give it a shot, cause I think both files will be regenerated.

I did, still no go. Why would it work in the older kitchens and not now? I seem to remember a registry hack to make it scan the sd card. Anyone know it?

Re: [ 9-19 ][ v3 ][ 6.5.1 / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual HTC Kitchen & ROMs

Hi! I am a bit newb on rom flashing. I have my TP for 3 weeks now. Already tried some roms but I am looking for a rom that is updated on a "regular" basis when there is newer builds of the OS available. It appears that this rom may fit my needs.

I have 2 main questions. Sorry if this was already discussed but I did not see any clear answers.

First, Kitchen or ROM?? What does the Kitchen do that the ROM doesn't and what is the best to use? Any major advantages of one over the other??

Second, builds version... 23412 or 23053? What I understand is that 23053 is newer that 23412 and works better with a better stability even if the build number is smaller?? Is that correct?

Thanks for your tips and answer. Based on the infos you will provide, I'll try the ROM or the Kitchen.

I believe the file you want is BkAllTabs manila2.1 fix v2.zip.
The Panoramic Background mod for the Gen Y manila is just 3 manila files for portrait and 3 manila files for landscape. We would need to find the default files to replace these 6. I am looking in the kitchen now. The BGALL TABS mode only mods 3 files.

Try this registry HKLM > HTC > AudioManager_Eng > Config > device_scan_path_path
or
device_scan_path_path_0

try changing one of those to \Storage Card

or
HKLM > HTC > AudioManager_Eng > Information > available_storage_card > Storage Card;

For a "noob" just go with the prebuilt ROM's to start. The kitchen may just confuse you. I have tried both the 23412 and 23053 and the 23053 is definitely better. They are from different build lines, so while saying 23053 is "newer" may be a true statement. They aren't from the same "Team". That is why sometimes some of the things which are fixed in a 234.. are not fixed in the subsequent 230.. or vice versa.

Just copy the attached file to /windows on your device using total commander. It will remove the panoramic background mod. The file is hidden, so make sure you have 'show hidden files' on in your PC operating system/ppc file browser.

edit - made and attached a cab for you.

The 6 files that contain the image are not part of the original manila files. The only stock manila file modified by the mod is 5c9aa261_manila for the simple panoramic mod.
