did anyone notice that wired tether stopped working begining at ROM v3.0 (same with 3.1) "wired tether 1.4" crashes with force-close, pda-net 2.45 failes with modem driver. both used to work with 2.x ROMs

Rooted my wife's 2.2 FROYO Stock EVO with the long ass (but BAD ASS) instructions from regaw_leinad... The phone is working good right now.

Just installed OMJs v3.1 and no bootloops, no FCs, it's running good.

Now to restore some of her stuff and install that Konikub Cherub (pink) theme and see if she likes it.

So ive currently got omj's 8/13 release on my phone, i am going to flash v3.1 w/king's kernel. I will backup then wipe and flash rom. If i restore my current rom's data only will any of the new, apps/settings be erased that come with v3.1? Such as new permissions and wifi pre8? Basically when i restore my current data onto the newly flashed v3.1 will my old current data overwrite the new?

I dont do the data.img restore but after reading your post curiosity got the best of me.
I'm really surprised no one has brought this up before.
It appears your concerns are justified. It appears that the old data overwrites the new.

I flashed a clean OMJ 3.1, verified wifi tether 8 and that aps2SD was in the data partition.
I pulled my data.img from 3.0 and restored it via fastboot.
I found I was back on wifi tether 7 and aps2SD was gone.

I assume this has to do with OMJ using /data and /data/app for his customizations.
He wont be cooking for awhile with his move. I'll give him a shout about it.

I believe if your using RA recovery you can keep your apps if you using ap2sd becuz ra doesnt auto wipe ext partition on the sd card

if im wrong correct me

Well I didnt select

Wipe SD:ext partition

just Factory reset and Dalvik and aps2SD was gone after my data restore.
The data.img restore is supposed to be an easy way to restore your data, regardless of aps2sd.
And especially problematic since 3.0 did not have the aps2SD and OMJ included it on 3.1 but I "lost it" (just for testing) by doing the data restore.

So unless I'm seeing it wrong the data.img may be an easy way to restore your data but you may lose new features, on OMJ at least.

FYI: i dont think app2sd is functioning correctly if even at all on deodexed version ever time i restore my apps i get low storage warning

same procedure with odexed and have 233mb "whoop"

and is anyone using King #8 if so you have any issues
