I havnt tried 1.6r yet trying to wait for things to be worked out for the most part. I also havnt done the recent OTA from 6/28 still waiting for things to get ironed out. With 1.6 wifi is working you can also get N Working if you flash the N kernal. 4g seems to be working because I connected to it even though I got a weak signal but the signal here at the house is always weak even before I flashed to the rom. The only thing not working with 1.6 is wifi tether but I believe you just have to uninstall and reinstall the latest version.

I know this has all been posted before but I wanted to clear things up in just one post because this is all pretty hard to follow. So for now this post will at least hopefully help a few people

Also can the developer please update the first post with the current rom and the the status of what appears to be working and not working or something along those lines? I like the fact that you update with a date and let us no what changes where made but id also like a caption that can be updated within the dated update that lets us no what issues are happening so we know what we are getting into. It does appear that 1.6r is working great as long as you follow the proper steps but there is alot of buzz flying around with people having issues and its keeping me from going to 1.6r lol.

Thanks again, Thomas
I think the only problem OMJ has saying exactly what problems there are is because he isn't in a 4G area. Seems like the only problem with the last ROM was that 4G wasn't working. Can anyone say if there are any advantages for me to switch from 1.5? I basically have all my apps set like I want them I don't get many foreclose errors I hate to go through all the trouble of flashing a new ROM just so I can say its new. Has anyone documented any advantages or disadvantages with the new ROM?????

4G isn't very important to me since I can't ever get a good signal its like I'm paying tew dollars for something I'll never use. I'm in the Dallas area and the problamatic switching between 3G/4G always disconects my internet connection anyway so its impossible to stream on the road. Then in my favorite spots coffee shop school work 4G doesn't work so its pretty useless.

The benefits of 1.6 courtesy of the OTA (and OMJ) are improved battery life, improved Wifi speed and strength, improved Exchange functions, and improved touchscreen-MUCH quicker, and the grounding issue is gone-you can now interact with your phone while it's laying on a table, desk, etc.
EDIT:Personally I can verify all but Exchange.

The new radio and wimax (look three post up from yours-OMJ's last one) are supposed to improve 4G.
Nand backup then flash. You can always go back.

Has anyone had any success in writing to system after flashing this? I've reverted back to 1.5 for the time being until something comes along that makes it work.

Question Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.1 Custom ROM v1.6 | Eclair | *Updated | 6/30/10*

Ok I must be doing something wrong. I just tried to flash the 1.6r using rom manager. I selected use sd card to restore rom and then I chose wipe cache and data. After that the phone rebooted and I got the EVO with a red triangle and exclamation point. Any ideas?

First I'd boot recovery the manual way by running the batch file from the evo-recovery folder that should still be on your C drive if you used Toast's method to root.
Cant be sure but I question the wipe ROM Manager does on Dalvik cache, not positive it's thorough enough.
Factory reset 2X's and wipe Dalvik 2X's then reflash.
You probably still wont have a recovery image so once booted flash the clockworkmod from ROM Manager. That should give you a recovery image back.
Then try to boot to recovery.

**the quick and dirty fix is to just flash clockworkmod but I'd start over, that's just me**

You dont need it if you're not in a 4G area and you should be on 1.6 and the new radio or 1.6r (same thing) first.

OMJ linked a NEW wimax update in Post #938

Thanks dude. As always I'm impatient. And I winged it. I saw there was a new version of rom manager. I downloaded it I flashed the experimental recovery and the the regular clockwork recovery and did the quick and dirty fix without even looking at this post. It worked like a charm (1.6r installed) and all my apps and settings are still there. Sweet deal .
