I'm not saying this is a complete list of the troublemakers, but I've now successfully setup my 28011 ROM without both of these items, and haven't had a problem with my ringer at all. I'd be interested in hearing what others have found.
I dont have IPSECVPN in my test roms, still no ringing....and it's on both sense 2.5 & 2.1

*EDIT* just touched based w/ MightyMike, he is also having the ringing issue on 2.5 21887

Well, I loaded up my custom ROM and had no ringing. Then I removed only the IPSECVPN and reflashed, and the ringer worked. Unless just reflashing fixed the problem (not impossible, I guess), that was one of the problems. There certainly could be other options in the kitchen that would cause the same behavior.

I think part of the problem may be RecModding.....I have 21887 recmodded, but still have 70 modules in slot 0 (way too high).....being this is a new kitchen, it looks like I need to go recmod crazy throughout the kitchen.....will report back later

per MM, recmodding resolved this issue in the past.

Yep ringers are one of the first things to go First thing I check when this happens is to see if there are too many modules.

OMJ,

I agree just stick with 2 roms, and focus on them, that will be much easier to fix bugs and make them stable.

Well, I'd definitely vote for/love to see an OMJ kitchen with a stable, fast sys for each of 6.1, 6.5, and 6.5.x as well as templates (.erv's) for Manila 2.1, Sense 2.1, Sense 2.5 and Titanium for each of the sys's (12 .erv's). I suspect that would cover the needs for 90+% of all users. The kitchen would only be updated with a verified stable fast sys and the corresponding .erv's.

For the braver, more advanced and "flashy" souls, the newer untested sys's could be made available for them to "plug & play".

Ah, so it's not the fact that I removed IPSECVPN, but that I removed SOMETHING. Lol, I thought I just got lucky that my ringer started to work on the first module I removed.

Exactly, you most likely removed a sys package that has modules in it. IPSECVPN for example has 9 modules in it taking up almost a meg(FYI unless you are using your phone on corporate VPN this package is pretty much useless, so I would recommend just not including it). Unfortunately us diamond users are the only ones left without a 6.5NK, so we are stuck recomoding more modules to files to deal with this.
