Re: CDMA Diamond Radios

the new Sprint 1.12.34F Radio seems to burn battery much more compare to the altel radio. it has good reception, and good internet speed, but average battery voltage is around 420-550mA during phone call, while the altel radio has a much lower average, between 378 to 450mA. i'm going back to altel 1.03 radio.

also no gps for Sprint 1.12.34F either?

btw, with the altel 1.12, you have to delete the agps registry key for the gps funtion to work "so so."

No GPS for you? Weird, I'm running 1.12.34F as well and GPS is just as fast as 1.11, if not faster. AGPS is working as it should and Google Maps gets a lock on a cold start in 20-30 seconds, iGO gets a lock even faster.

Too soon to tell voice/data performance, since I just flashed from 1.11, but I do get more bars in my office than normal. Not much more, it went from 1 bar to 2-3 bars on average. Seems like a good radio so far, will let you guys know in a week how it truly performs.

Will the new SPrint radio make your phone hard reset?

Re: CDMA Diamond Radios

New sprint radio was horrible for me, horrible heat, slower data.

Back to telus.

I wasn't seeing any improvement either over 1.11.00f or especially the telus radio. back to telus.

Haven't tried the Telus Radio yet...probably will try that in a couple days to see if its better than the new Sprint radio. So far data throughput has been higher and the signal strength is higher (only judging by the "bars", no technical measurements.). Testing was done in the Pacific NW, specifically the Puget Sound area of Washington.

However, I can only recommended this radio over Sprint's 1.11 version if you don't care about heat and battery life. This radio is AGGRESSIVE, the phone definitely emits more heat and battery life seems a little worse than 1.11. This radio works for me though because I have a charger everyone I go, one at home, one at the office, and one in my car. The heat doesn't seem like its going to break my phone, but definitely hotter.

EDIT: Not as hot as I originally thought. After some extended data sessions, the heat seems to be in range with Sprint's previous radio release. Battery life is just a tad worse, not much.

The difference doesn't seem much, but it is a little faster for data and has better signal strength. Its probably not enough of a difference to offset the worse battery life and more heat.
