CDMA Diamond Radios

I take no responsibility for anything that happens to your device.

All of these radios are ported for the CDMA Diamond. Every radio can be flashed to any CDMA carrier's Diamond.

Flashing any of these radios will NOT hard reset your device.

Information About Radios

TIP: Since the RUU will not allow it, to flash when your battery is lower than 50%:
1) turn off your phone,
2) press and hold the volume down and power buttons at the same time- until a three colored screen comes up (bootloader screen),
3) connect your phone to the usb from your computer,
4) run the RUU.
(Be smart- don't do this when your battery is VERY low.)

Re: CDMA Diamond Radios

to find out which radio suits you best, on your dial pad, simply hit ##DEBUG# (##33284#) where you will see the rx power and rx ec/io number. the number that is closer to zero indicating better performance. (under some radio, like the latest alltel radio, Rx performance is different when BAND# setting is in sleep mode or in cdma mode. under this circumstance, make sure you dial out to a number(any # like your vm or *4 to have it switch over to cmda mode. while the dial pad is connected, go back to debug info to see the rx data under cmda mode).

but of course, real life tests in term of battery usage, heat, data speed and drop calls should be the main factors if you want to keep the radio or use another.

go here for the details on ##debug# http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...10&postcount=7

btw, i have flashed to most of the radios in this thread. the new alltel radio give me the best data performance/drop calls/ and heat. the speedtest.net results in my sig. are all from the alltel radio.

Re: CDMA Diamond Radios

My readings are

-----Sprint 1.11.00F (update Diamond)
--1x
-RX Power: -74 to -94 dbm
-RX Ec/Io: -4.5 to -7.5
--HDR
-RX Power: -59.5 to -77.5 dbm
-RX Signal Strength: 62 to 70
-Active Set Pilot PN: 63 and 255

-Requested Data Rate: 81.600 kbps
but if I go to the GPS screen and back to HDR I get

-Requested Data Rate: 328.800 kbps

I then turned on GPS and got requested data rate fluctuating and going as high as 1843.2 kbps !

I also saw that the GPS debug told me my altitude! Are there any apps that can do this? I'm a skier, hiker, etc and having GPS altitude would be awesome.

while GPS was active,
-Requested Data Rate went as low as : 62.400 kbps, but the high end of 1843.20 was pretty impressive!

1) Any idea what all this means? What radio should I be on ? Do I need to reproduce this test after installing all the different radios to make a determination?

2) I am in Salt Lake City and my altitude in debug seemed very accurate, I would love to see more GPS apps besides google maps and live search, I've seen a couple and do some more searches now, but does anyone know a good tracker app that includes altitude?

Thanks for showing me this debug info! great find, now what to do with it!

Re: CDMA Diamond Radios

Answering one of my own off topic questions by doing some search on altitude, http://www.geoterrestrial.com/ has some great free gps apps. =D> (although only the beta version is now working properly, apparently google maps has changed their interface).

Still want to know what my radio results mean though!

Re: CDMA Diamond Radios

dumb question that i couldn't really gather from the other posts here: are radios carrier specific or carrier released? i see they're all branded by the carrier, but does that mean that i can't use an altel radio to access sprint's cellular service?

no, there can be flashed to any cdma diamond carrier. they are independent of this. so if you flash the alltel radio, you will still be connecting to sprint.
