I thought it had to be cooked in? At least that was the story with the earlier ROMS, but I didn't understand the reasons why.

Which file controls the start menu bg and the lock screen bg?

I replaced both the stwaters* with my personal image, it works on first boot(before customization), but after that it's the kitchen original.

You need to replace the stwaters in the .tsk you are using (that's why it doesn't work after customizations). I don't know about the lock screen since I don't cook in the new lockscreen.

I'd rather not either tbh, what can I remove?

Is there a specific place to look to replace for the tsk?

Well the tsk includes the nice rounded buttons that calk has included in the 6.5.1 roms. If you change the tsk, you will mess up that nice look.

I have a bigger problem now. The settings stopped working, I hard-reset. I can't get past the boot screen. I did the triggered bootloader which has always worked in the past, and got the tri-color screen, but Activesync doesn't recognize. I have a brick. Any help?
