Re: [ 10-13 ][ v4 ][ 6.5.1 / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual HTC Kitchen & ROMs

Unfortunately, the corruption problem is still there for my TD (FWIW, an early phone soon after release).
  • Cooked a 23064 ROM
  • Flashed to stock
  • Cleared Storage
  • Flashed to stock again
  • Flashed new ROM - no problem
  • Made a minor tweak and cooked another ROM
  • Flashed new ROM
  • It froze during customizations - customizations didn't finish, manilla screen appears, "Customizations" in upper left corner. Device frozen. [Exactly same problem I had with earlier couple of kitchens]
  • Hard reset, then it hard reset itself during Customizations.

I can live with it - I think 23064 (after few more builds) will last me until either the TD2 / HD2 / iPhone grabs my attention.

Thanks for the great work - it's extended my TD's life for al least another 3 to 6 months!

LOL - mine certainly does! Just like my Mogul was ultra-sensitive to the BT issue, my TD is ultra-sensitive to the VK flash corruption issue. (My Apache and Diamond were perfectly normal, though).

Oh well, new phones coming!

Re: [ 10-13 ][ v4 ][ 6.5.1 / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual HTC Kitchen & ROMs

Ran into a problem with the new kitchen. I can't sync over any protected WMA files despite having sync rights -- WMP reports "Not Supported by Device" whenever I try. I'm running 6.5, build 21867 on both XIP and SYS. Anything under OEM or SYS that has DRM in the name is tagged as included. Any idea what's going on?

EDIT: Seems to be fixed now. Apparently something went weird when I formatted the internal storage in preparation for switching over to the Zune Pass (since songs from there can still be synced to a Diamond if you use Windows Media Player). Flashing it to the stock ROM and formatting the internal storage from there fixed things.

Just wanted to say, thanks! I'm a fairly new user to SPB Mobile Shell and really enjoy it. Compatibility with 3D not withstanding. Have a ROM without either 3D or Titanium is a welcome relief because of the extra space.

Thanks again!

Re: [ 10-13 ][ v4 ][ 6.5.1 / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual HTC Kitchen & ROMs

A few more things I've noticed about the MobileShell ROM.
  1. Even without Titanium or Manila, there still isn't a lot of extra memory. I expected more than 50Mb.
  2. The really cool looking sms reader when I tapped on the SMS widget the first time never appeared again. Now when I tap on it, it just goes to the normal messaging app.
  3. MS3.5 weather never updates automatically. It hasn't, no matter how it was installed on other ROMs either. Obviously a MS glitch.
  4. The calendar only started to show appointments correctly after I integrated with PI9 and then reset the phone.
  5. WiFi (or maybe the MS Wireless Manager) kept freezing the system and required 2 resets to get things working. Seems to be OK now.
  6. I really like that, without Titanium, I can go to the old-style Today screen and use PhoneWeaver and other Today apps and then quickly go back to MS3.5 with the right soft-key. Very nice.
  7. MS3.5 integration with PI9 seems to only be for certain links/widgets and only with the Calendar module of PI. It would be awesome if I could tap on the Contacts widget (or one of the sub-tabs) and get to PI Contacts instead of the MS3.5 GUI.
All in all, a really cool ROM. Most of the issues are minor and the majority are probably a result of glitches in MS3.5, rather than the ROM.

Can someone post up the regedit that will get rid of the phone pop-up? Something about toaster...?

That's it.
I'll try that first. I think that with MS3.5 going, I don't need any of those pop-ups.
