Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel
give me some time, and later I will write down all the settings you need to change. You might want to check EPST and then security. that was my problem at first.

Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel
To get the data working i had to change the settings on EPST under the security tab. for the HDR AN AUTH Password i had to put in an alternate ESN.
There is the ESN that is A100000****** that is on the box. That's what I had to give alltel to activate the phone, but to get the Data working I had to put in a number that starts with an 8 and is 8 digits long. I used QPST and it said that number was my ESN. I also looked at a stock Alltel Diamond and it had the number that started with an 8 in this tab. I'm not sure how much help this is, but it's what worked for me. It took 3 days to get my Sprint Diamond working on the Alltel network, but now all is 100% fine! I'm flashing ROMs to it and it works great! Good luck, PM me if you want any help with anything. I'll try to be as much help as possible. |

Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel
I am a total noob with a sprint touch diamond coming in a day or two and I need to make it work on alltel. Is there a write up on how to do this step by step? I don't want to brick my phone! I did a search but I am not sure what all I need to change and how to do it. Thanks in advance.

Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel
If you're a total noob I would suggest finding someone who knows what they're doing to help. Since you have a 6800 it will go a little smoother. You need to run a program called EPST on your 6800 to get all of the settings off of it. I don't know of any big write ups, but I'd be willing to assist if you run into any bumps along the way. The order of the first few steps is very important.
1. Unlock the phone 2. Change the MSL (Sprint has a unique MSL to each phone and Alltel's is 000000) 3. Flash the ROM of your choice (I've heard Conflipper's is pretty sweet!) 4. Copy the settings from EPST to your Diamond. There are going to be a few different ones, because each phone has a unique ID (ESN). 5. Call Alltel and give them the ESN from the new Diamond (A10000 or A000000) 6. Enjoy!

I guess what I would really like to do is get the phone hooked up and stable with everything running on it like it should, and then play with some custom roms later. Thank you for your responce and help. I was scared to death when I put that ROM on my 6800 but it worked perfect and unlocked my GPS among other stuff. Thanks again. Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel
Well i'm pretty sure you'd still have to tweak the phone with the sprint rom to match your epst settings. If you don't have those settings it may be an uphill climb to get the phone working. If you're thinking about running the Sprint ROM and configuring it to work there's going to be a lot of bloatware on there that won't work at all (Sprint TV and so on).
If you unlocked the phone, changed the MSL#, and flash the Alltel Stock ROM it would work well. That's how I did it the first time with my Diamond. But you will still have the Roaming Triangle. From everything I understand the roaming triangle is from the Sprint Radio. If you want to get rid of it you may need to flash and Alltel Radio, which I haven't seen yet. From everything I understand there's a good possibility of bricking your phone when flashing a radio. The triangle is a little annoying at first, but I've learned to live with it. |

Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel
OK. I checked the EPST and compared it back to my 6700. These were the differences:
After I used the DCD Alltel Carrier cab, the phone rebooted and could not make phone calls (We're sorry but we cannot process your call....). When I went in the EPST, the SCM had changed from 42 to 58 and the MEID fields were gone. I reflashed it with conflipper's Alltel ROM and the MEID fields returned, but the SMC stayed at 58. Thanks to all for any advice or assistance. |

Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel
thumper, does your phone work correctly now? Does alltel use the same epst settings state to state? Thanks for checking the 6700. bencurry are you using a sprint phone on alltel or did I read that wrong? If so is yours working well? What rom are you running?
If I unlock my diamond, and install the alltel rom or conflippers will that rom have the settings I need already? Will it automatically change all the settings from sprint ones to alltel ones? or do I have to change them manually? If I call alltel is there any chance they will tell me those settings? Thanks for responding to my dumb questions. I want to do this right and be able to enjoy it. Not want to throw it through a wall. thank you both. |

When I was going through unlocking the phone, I was not able to use getSPC to get the SPC. I had to use the registry hack. After it was unlocked I flashed it with conflipper's ROM and then had to edit the EPST to add my phone number and home SID/NID (126/65535). There were a few other settings in the M.IP settings/profiles and Security settings that I had to change as well. I just used the values that were in the EPST on my 6700. I can post those settings here or e-mail them if you need them. bencurry: I tried to send you a PM , but it wouldnt let me for some reason. |
