Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel

Three posts... that aren't true

GetSPC DOES work on the Diamond, for some reason a lot of sprint users just can't seem to get it to work (which may or may not be of Sprint's doing). It generally does work though, as I have a Diamond, and it worked for me.

There are also instructions in the GPS Tutorial thread on getting it for sprint users using CDMA Workshop, though that's a bit more involved as well.

Did you follow my directions in the link I posted in post #47? It tells you how to use QPST.

What you need to do is first make sure you have the wmodemdriver installed. Then put your phone in diag mode by pressing ##3424. Once your phone displays the diag plug the usb in. Then open QPST if you dont see your phone there then you'll need to click add ports. Your phone will be in one of those ports so add them all. Your phone should display as "surf". Once you've done this and see your phone then click on start clients at the top then SERVICE PROGRAMING. Once this is open you should see your phone there and the phone number click ok. Then you'll want to click on the bottom left "Read from Phone". It will then pop open a window asking for your service programming code. This code is your MSL#. Once your through this screen you'll default to the settings tab. You'll see your MSL# in the Service Programming box. This is what you want to set to 000000. Once you type that in the box click "Write to Phone" on the bottom left. Then your golden Now, just exit out of QPST and unplug the usb from your phone. On your phone click on exit on the bottom left and soft reset it. Now your phone will be unlocked.

I hope this helps

Get spc I don't think is working. It gave me the same number for two different phones. Am I suppose to put in the MEID HEX number?

Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel

For all those that are doing inter-carrier flashing of ROM's to alltel. I would recommend that you keep a copy of the original ROM's and Radio's that ship with the device. The reason I am saying this, is because the way that Verizon authenticates a device and the way alltel authenticates a device are completely different.

With Verizon there is a certification process for inter-carrier devices to have the MEID registered on the network. Which is the reason that you can't buy a sprint device, change the Master Subsidy Lock, and make it work on Verizon. You can on alltel(for the most part) because alltel roams on Sprint and Verizon. From what I have seen from previous mergers/buyouts...is that the device will either roam or you will not have service.

So do what you will for now, but from what I have heard coming down the pipe is that the ESN blocks that were purchased by alltel will automatically be transferred and registered. Any other CDMA capable device will have to wait to see if that particular model will have a certificaton process. So say for example you have a Sprint HTC Touch, you would bring it in to Verizon and say I would like to sign up for service. They would in turn check a list to see if it is certifiable, and at that point load the Verizon Wireless software package for your version of the touch. If you have a custom rom on it they will ask that you buy a Verizon Wireless Touch instead of using yours that you previously bought.

Just a heads up....

Cool Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel

Thanks for the heads up. Just to let everyone know I did finally get it up and running. "Tommy" was right for me, Thanks Tommy! I could not get GetSPC to work for me either. I downloaded and installed on the phone Resco File explorer demo and used this to change the registry (very easy). By the way I flashed to Alltel's rom first which was my problem. Do not flash first! Unlock(change) the MSL first to 000000 (change it using QPST like previously stated). After you verify that it worked, flash. When I called to change the phone's over I stated that it was an Touch instead of the diamond, the steps are the same. After giving the MEID HEX number to them you will need to go in to the Service screen ##000000(Send). This is where they will ask you to put in (select and edit) your phone number into the MDN and MSID. The Home SID will also need to be edited (they will give you this value). =D>

Good Luck and Thanks to everyone who contributed.
