Re: Flash Touch Diamond from Sprint to Alltel

For all those that are doing inter-carrier flashing of ROM's to alltel. I would recommend that you keep a copy of the original ROM's and Radio's that ship with the device. The reason I am saying this, is because the way that Verizon authenticates a device and the way alltel authenticates a device are completely different.

With Verizon there is a certification process for inter-carrier devices to have the MEID registered on the network. Which is the reason that you can't buy a sprint device, change the Master Subsidy Lock, and make it work on Verizon. You can on alltel(for the most part) because alltel roams on Sprint and Verizon. From what I have seen from previous mergers/buyouts...is that the device will either roam or you will not have service.

So do what you will for now, but from what I have heard coming down the pipe is that the ESN blocks that were purchased by alltel will automatically be transferred and registered. Any other CDMA capable device will have to wait to see if that particular model will have a certificaton process. So say for example you have a Sprint HTC Touch, you would bring it in to Verizon and say I would like to sign up for service. They would in turn check a list to see if it is certifiable, and at that point load the Verizon Wireless software package for your version of the touch. If you have a custom rom on it they will ask that you buy a Verizon Wireless Touch instead of using yours that you previously bought.

Just a heads up....
