Re: Upgrade To Touch Pro Free!!

Here's what I did:

First of all, I have legitimate problems with my Mogul. It's my second one and it is so slow it takes me like 30 seconds to even dial a number. I guess the hardware isn't fast enough to handle Windows or something. Anyway, I saw this thread and did the following:

1. Tried to go through the sprint website for advanced replacement. The website offered me a UTStarcom 6800. That wasn't good enough for me. I cancelled the request.

2. Called *2 and hit 0,0 to talk to a human. Explained that my mogul was locking up and my business prevented me from going to the repair center (which it does). She forwards me to Asurion.

3. I told the dude at Asurion that I hated my mogul and I had read on the internet that a lot of people had similar problems but were happier with the HTC touch pro. I asked if he could replace my Mogul and he said yes. My Touch Pro goes out in the mail tomorrow.

4. He had to put $50 (deductable) on my sprint bill (which is acceptable for a phone that costs $700)... but I'm planning on calling Sprint when I get the bill and asking them to credit me the $50. Usually they will to keep you happy.

So... thanks guys for this thread- I'm very happy to be chucking my mogul back to Sprint... let's hope the TP is faster/better.

I did the same exact thing, and the only thing that they offered was the Mogul because it was in stock or something.

Same problem for me. I've got cooked ROMs on my Mogul, but since my TP is on the way, I'll have to figure out who makes the best ROM for this now. Any suggestions?

IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T HAVE INSURANCE

Does anyone know WHY we are being allowed to do this now *WITHOUT THE INSURANCE*? Is it an oversight on Sprints part just like how SERO let anyone get an account for a long time? When calling on the phone to attempt a swap before, they just gave me the finger. I paid the $55 and I have my Touch Pro now, but I'm worried I'll get charged full retail eventually.

as long as the phone is not physically damaged or water damaged in in anyway...and its just a program issue, electrical issue, or normal wear and tear...you can file an advanced exchange on your phone. depending on whether its a pda phone or fnormal flip phone the price will vary. doing an advanced exchange with insurance is free. so you should have nothing to worry about . im sure youwont be charged anything but the price of the AE...

Hope That Helps

Is this something that's always been available with sprint? No insurance needed, just get a replacement phone (same one or equivalent) for $55 any time your current one doesn't work right?

idk ive been running this service center here in NC for 2 years and its pretty much always been that way if a customer comes into my store. it depends on what the damage is...if its just a bad phone then its $55 bucks if its physical damage then its $99 and if its lost stolen or water damage then you got to pay for a whole new phone. but having TEP(Total Equipment Protection) Has Saved me tons of time so having insurance to me is still worth .23 cents a day lol
