To be fair, there's no evidence that the cap is permanent. I wouldn't be surprised to see adjustments as the network becomes able to handle more data.

Also, this post (linked from the boygenius post linked above) indicates that the cap only affects PC cards and PAM, so if it's really a burden people could always use one of the covert tethering tricks. I wouldn't feel right doing so, but it's nice that it's technically feasible.

Are people really using their phones as primary access devices? While RevA speeds are very nice for a portable device, they don't compare to what I get over basic home broadband.

You'd be surprised at how many people want more than one broadband connection at home...

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

Well i kinda did the math on this part.

31 days in a month - per day your allowed 161MB
30 days in a month - per day your allowed 166MB
29 days in a month - per day your allowed 172MB
28 days in a month - per day your allowed 178MB ** Look forward to this month

So make sure you go to a hot spot when u need to update your computer. Or download a huge file cuz other wise you'll hit your mark. I kinda been watching my usage and seems to me like u can easy use your daily allowance if u like to watch youtube lol

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

Ok so its been 10 days since my data counter started over seams I am at 196060 WHAT? Anyone know? Is that megs or what? That number comes from the new data counter that was added to my account just a couple of weeks ago. I have talked to Sprint customer service 3 times now and they all tell me that this new cap will not effect me and that if there is a change made to my plan that includes a cap I will be notified by mail prior to any change. (still says unlimited on my account) If Sprint dose change my plan I will most likely be changing services. Anyone know what that counter counts in and are there any Sprint reps out there that can give me some advice on what will happen next, what I can expect it see?

Don't worry, you're only at .19GB

You should be safe, just don't go crazy with the next 4.81GBs

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

This is right from an email that was forwarded to me by our rep... I assume this is only for connection cards.. not Phone As Modem..

If you sell a Connection Card between 6-15 and 7-13 it is very important to educate you customers on the following:
·The connection card will be unlimited until 7-12. On 7-13 the plan will change to the above limitations.
·The customer will receive a bill message in about three days letting them know about the changes and giving them 60 days to opt out of their contract. It is very important in order to avoid churn and a charge back to educate your customer before they receive this bill message.
·Explain to the customer how big the 5GB limitation/300MB Roaming limitation is.
