I hope this does not hijack the thread and I dont mean to...have you looked at "nueminutes" (freeware) it is a today plugin and will check you sprint account data/mins.etc..pick and choose what to display on today.

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

i just thought about something else that blows if this cap happens, my data connection turns on every once in a while for no apparent reason, like i at work pull out the phone to check for calls, msgs, time etc etc, and my battery will drain a little and i will notice my connection is active, for like an hour sometimes, so i turn it off and thank god i got unlim data, but damn now im gonna have to put it in flight mode all day and hope i get messages when i turn it back on lol

http://www.gb-soft.cz/XDAII/product_...k_wm5pe_en.htm (freeware)<--really nice program

I use this program...it also works with CDMA phones......and will auto disconnect your data connection after so many min you set when not in use.

I know what you are talking about....I would also catch my 67 with a data connection, but with this program I have no more worries.

Example: I have my email set to auto checked every hr....24/7 if I dont have any emails I would not get a notice that I have no mail and would have to remember to disconnect data myself or if I leave the phone at the house/car..etc. the connection would last till I got back to disconnect...and after a couple of hrs most likely my battery would be dead by then..lol., now after 3min of checking email it will auto disconnect. That is one way this program comes in very handy

dude, chill out, there is no way in hell you would go over by it randomly updating the weather an e-mail, 5 gigs is rediculously tough to go over even if you seriously tried to.. i browse the web for like an hour or so everyday an i hardly get close to 1 gig an that's from using high data programs like skyfire an jive talk. you will be fine

I don't know why ya'll are getting so anxious over this if you aren't going to do the math. You've used 2.75 GB in 3 weeks. That means you have 2.25 GB left for this last week until the 28th. If you use the same amount as you used each week for the last 3 weeks, you'll use .9 GB and still have nearly a gig and a half before reaching the 5 GB cap. Sure, it sucks to be capped, but put it in perspective. You guys say thing like Wow! I'm gonna go over every month and then post your numbers, and you're not even gonna be close.

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

Let's assume you can maintain a maxed-out (roughly) Rev A connection for an indefinite period of time:

120KB/s x 60 sec x 60 min = 432,000 KB = roughly 432 MB/hour. At this rate you'll use up your entire 5GB allotment in about 12 hours! Panic!!!

With realistic usage, even extremely heavy usage, it is very hard to hit 5GB in a month. I stream high quality music/video to my UMPC for 2-3 hours every day on my commute to and from work. I tether my work laptop to my phone to get around web filters. I download files from Rapishare, Megaupload, etc (my work blocks file upload sites). I tether in order to remote desktop into my home computer (my work also blocks remote desktop connections). I have push email, auto-updating weather, etc. going all day.

I never come close to 5GB. Ya, caps suck, but ultimately there won't be much effect. The only people that are going to be hit hard are those that use it as their primary ISP. And those people are just bogging it down for the rest of us anyway.

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

Last month I used about 1.1 Gigs, but I download a lot of audio podcasts...

I would be more concerned of using too much data while ROAMING... I will likely change my phone not to ROAM to prevent this...
