Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

Let's assume you can maintain a maxed-out (roughly) Rev A connection for an indefinite period of time:

120KB/s x 60 sec x 60 min = 432,000 KB = roughly 432 MB/hour. At this rate you'll use up your entire 5GB allotment in about 12 hours! Panic!!!

With realistic usage, even extremely heavy usage, it is very hard to hit 5GB in a month. I stream high quality music/video to my UMPC for 2-3 hours every day on my commute to and from work. I tether my work laptop to my phone to get around web filters. I download files from Rapishare, Megaupload, etc (my work blocks file upload sites). I tether in order to remote desktop into my home computer (my work also blocks remote desktop connections). I have push email, auto-updating weather, etc. going all day.

I never come close to 5GB. Ya, caps suck, but ultimately there won't be much effect. The only people that are going to be hit hard are those that use it as their primary ISP. And those people are just bogging it down for the rest of us anyway.
