Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

The rep said the system would not let him add it and it was greyed out since the phone had already been active on the system before...god knows what's going on. I think I'll just stick to no insurance...
Wow, that little shit sold me a year old phone and said it was 2 months old. I don't get people like this...

In addition, the price of the phone in 5 months from now will be much cheaper. Just my 2 cents.

The only time I think TEP is worth it if the phone is brand new in the market like EVO and you are in contract and worry about the possibility losing your phone or break it.
I agree I don't really care about insurance either, the only reason I thought it would be a good idea was because I lost my old TP2 and ended up paying $125 for a year old one from craigslist. Oh well not too bad because I could've paid the exact same amount for TEP as well...I'm still in contract and will be out of contract in 3 months come October this year...might just have to be careful not to lose my phone again.
I agree with you though, TEP is mostly a scam - paying $7 a month and then paying $100 for a lost phone...in 1 year you've already paid $184 for a lost phone...that's shitty.

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

nice to see a little anger towards the d.b who really deserves it. any way, i just went online to check, and it seemed pretty easy. i just signed in, and opted to change plan add ons. removing my insurance was an option. id try it out. you dont have anything to loose. since its been less than 30 days new on your account, it may just let you do it at the website. also, i agree that if you can replace it for less than 184 dollars, the insurance isnt worth it. if you get the insurance, and pay a deductible, you get a refurb phone too. forr 200 bucks on ebay, youd prolly get a new one. although that refurb from assurion does have a 1 year warranty. you cant say that about a craigslist or ebay buy.

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

Yeah I know you have that option to remove TEP online but to add it you can only do it via a CSR or e-chat and stuff. I've already checked it won't let me add it on there. Oh well, I guess I'll just use the phone for as long as it works or wait for one of those months where they let everyone add TEP to the account...

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

whats crazy, is ive personally seen people swap phones on thier account for 1 day, swithch the other one back and add insurance, because according to the system its new within 30 days, and you have 30 days to add insurance.

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

I agree, the whole thing is quite messed up.
Anyway screw it, TEP is not worth the $7 at this point. If I can hang on for another 3 months and then decide what phone I want at that point based on Win Phone 7 or whatever else will work with SERO at that point I can prolly just get a new phone since my contract expires...
Thanks for your help though

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

This is so random, the CSR calls me a liar and e-care says I'm right. Wish that idiot CSR was still around...see below:

"Thank you for your reply. I apologize for the miscommunication
regarding the activation date of handset on your account.

The HTC 7380 was activated on July 01, 2010 on your line XXXXXXXXX.
As the TEP can be added within 30 days of handset activation so I have
added the TEP on your account effective from July 4, 2010.

Please let us know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

Thank you for emailing us."

##778# wouldve told you if it was a refurb or when the orginal activation date was... YOU couldve found out easily how old it was..

the sprint store though shouldve gave you insurance since they saw it was a new activation for you.

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

Go back to the store where you activated it, talk to the store rep that helped you out, and have him/her add the TEP. As long as you are activating a new phone (meaning first time you are activating it on your account)...you can add insurance within 30 days. Surprised the store rep didn't offer it to you when you were there.
