Angry Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

I lost my phone when I was overseas and I bought a phone off craigslist (TP2 cost me $125) and I activated it on July 1st 2010. The system somehow conveniently states that this phone was active on my account since September 2009! It shows that a different phone was deactivated on July 1st 2010 but the new phone has been active since September 2009!!

I tried calling in to see if I could get TEP added and the Sprint rep flat out told me I was trying to cheat sprint...
"I'm not gonna lie to you man, but the system don't lie" WTF!

I was at the sprint store on the 1st of July getting this phone added on there after paying for it off another dude from craigslist in the store itself...AAARGH sprint!!

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

That's illegal for them to do that... What they need to do is cancel the ESN on your other phone, and activate your ESN on your new phone as your current device... Did you call and tell them you lost it..?? And I take it you didn't have insurance beforehand, otherwise you could of had a replacement device for $100...

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

i hate to say it, but that is exactly why i dont try doing transfers of service , phone swapping , any thing like that. i always buy my phone from sprint or htc(or others, but always new). the esn on the phone prolly has been active since sept 2009. thats when the tp2 came out, and prolly when that guy activated it. i think in order to get insurance on a phone, the esn has to at least be inactive for a period in between, if you went ot the sprint store with the guy to take t off his account, and add it to yours, they know its not new, even if its new to you. the way most people get insurance on a used phone is by NOT telling sprint it wasnt a b.n.i.b. phone.

why would it be illegal for them to decline instating insurance on a phone that wasnt new? especillay if there was no insurance policy in the first place?

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

Ah ok that's probably what happened. Since that guy had it on his account since Sept 2009...the dude lied to me btw, said he only had it for 2 months. What a cheater...

So I guess I'm stuck without insurance on this phone...oh well...

you can check to see when the phone was manufactured. dial ##778# should give you all the info you need. if it was manufactured any time in 2009, its an older one. if it was new 2 months ago, the manu. date will be more recent, like march 2010.

Re: Sprint Customer Service is crazy!

Yeah the phone was manufactured in August last year...
It's fine I mean I paid $125 for it so I'm not really complaining.
I just don't understand why Sprint customer service treats you like shit outright!
I mean this CSR basically said he was done having this conversation because the system didn't lie but I did. I explained that I bought it off craigslist used and everything, but he just kept laughing and saying I was lying! Brilliant way to keep your customers sprint...if it wasn't for SERO I'd have been long gone...

Doesn't this CSR know that if the phone was active on someones account for a while that same date might show up on mine as well...WOW way to make your customers love you...

csutomer service a holes are everywhere. try again tommorow with a diffrent rep, or online. i havent done it in a whilem, but i think you can add insurance to a phone line online and not even have to talk to anybody.

I am not so sure why you want an insurance. I just cancelled my TEP because the deductible is $100. They always try to ask you to claim to assurion and pay the $100. I figure if you have the phone for 5 months you can easily get a new phone of ebay for the amount that you spend for assurion deductible and TEP ($100 + $7 per month). In addition, the price of the phone in 5 months from now will be much cheaper. Just my 2 cents.

The only time I think TEP is worth it if the phone is brand new in the market like EVO and you are in contract and worry about the possibility losing your phone or break it.
