Re: Simple Guide FRX07!!, 6 Easy Steps (15 min): XDANDROID TP2 DL links

dl frx07 zip again, unzip on pc, copy to a DIFFERENT SD CARD
copy a startup.txt (mine on 1st post via highlight & paste into notepad, saveas, startup.txt) & dl the calibration file I linked in post 1, ensure they both get copied to the SAME PLACE!

rename your \windows\startup directory
reboot
use a file manager (file explorer, total commander, etc) to run haret as soon as your tp2 boots.

Then tell us what you see (the old 1gig card that came with the tp2 should work just fine)

IF your build hangs for 10 min, THEN make sure you delete the data.img file EACH & EVERY time you try to run it again after it hangs. Try this 3 more times. (delete data.img, reboot, run haret) I'd be absolutely shocked to see it not work if you follow those very simple steps to the tee..

~good luck

Re: Simple Guide FRX07!!, 6 Easy Steps (15 min): XDANDROID TP2 DL links

since it worked, it built a working data.img file, now you may want to try & rename your startup back, so you don't have to do that each time & see if it boots. If not, make sure it's not calling an over clocking program.

Also, if it doesn't work with the startup back in... remove each program one at a time & reboot, then try to boot into android. LONG process, but you can ID which startup program is causing your boot issue that way.

Need clarification please! Arrgh, Am I right? it should build the "android folder" upon first boot, though right?

Anyhow, after I supplied the old "android folder" to this version, I got to the calibration thing, I actually did the manual calibration, the little white 4 square targets show up, and I use stylus on them, and everything came on up. Then I need to set up everything. But still doesnt answer the question if the "android" folder that was created originally from the FRX06 folder causes any problems with the 07 versions?

ALso along this Calibrate question, I usually did (but didnt this time)... copy the ts-calibration file from all my other versions (they are the same) if I need to. I am going to delete the "android" folder and the data.img and try again right quick. Sooooo,..

Thanks in advance. I hope to post up what happen, even if it is back to 06 for me. Battery life is my biggest problem with hack-droids, since we have such sheiiiity coverage from verizon, where I live and where I work.

I'm confused... why would you go back to FRX06?

First, I don't think you can use the 'android' folder from FRX06. Not sure tho, I've honestly never mucked with it. If you don't have one, it will create one on boot yes.

You can reuse calibration files, no problem.

ANGRY BIRDS RIO WORKS FINE ON FRX07

I've pulled this discussion from another thread. Not a duplicate, just to further discuss without getting too off track in someone elses thread. This is mine, you can post anything you want here without getting crabbed at. If it's too bad, or I don't know... I'll probably just not respond :>)) (or life's got me way too busy :>))

~~~~~~ This may be simple common sense to many of us, but important to understand if you don't. ~~~~~~~~~~~
If your TP2 is slow, do this. Don't over think it... just do it.
  1. OC (Overclock): Put this in your startup.txt anywhere between the "" (ensure a space between any words, not quotes) acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=716800 then reboot, try again.. probably needs the boost in speed..
  2. DL Advanced Task Killer Froyo from market & kill all running apps before going into the game/application.
  3. Set your apps not to auto update in settings, so a bunch of other tasks & network access isn't going on at the same time your trying to play... settings, Accounts & sync, background data (UNCHECK IT).
  4. On the Windows side before going into Android, you should run "Field Trial" and check your reception is. Walk around & try to get in the -50 to -60dbm range before going into Android. Turning your TP2 even 180 degrees in the exact same location can bring the signal from -60 to -90 in a hurry, so ensure your in a good reception area. (-70's is OK most of the time also)
~~~~~ cutecools response in part ~~~~~~~~~~~~

2nd i dont open any other application after rebooting other than angry birds. so tat no background application wud b running..
i tried feild test and it shows my network -99dbm (May be i m using GSM sim card)
i dont think there might be any restriction cuz angry bird works great on SGS(samsung galaxy)..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Point by point.
First, this isn't just about Angry Birds... it's about performance increase with the OS or any app.
i dont open any other application after rebooting other than angry birds. so tat no background application wud b running..
>>
Dead wrong. DL the Advanced Task Killer for Froyo, open it. You'll see 10-20 running applications... everything from news & weather to email, maps, etc.. KILL ALL BEFORE ENTERING SLOW APPLICATION
i tried feild test and it shows my network -99dbm (May be i m using GSM sim card)
>>
-99 is absolutely HORRIBLE. you could start losing calls much beyond that :>)) I've written tons on signal strength. Try a different room, I've moved my home office, why? Difference between 2 rooms on the same floor was 20dbm, in one windows turned a certain way, I can go from -52 to -70 just rotating it. Make sure you hold the TP2 on the BOTTOM HALF. The antenna is the black tape under the back cover that runs side to side just above the camera lens & speakers... IT MATTERS. I can't comment on GSM much, but assume signal is signal & if you are at a different location & get low 70's somewhere, then it's acting the same as cdma.
i dont think there might be any restriction cuz angry bird works great on SGS(samsung galaxy)..
Understood, thanks. Someone totally went off on the wrong track on a response to this... You were only using that as you stated... to confirm no "restriction" on the app... got it
Thanks for the comments cutecool, I'm not trying to be harsh, but you didn't do as I suggested (DL taskiller & kill apps) so I felt a need to make my point more clear.
...just for the record... i've seen similar responses to Sprint TV, other games, etc.. What's important to one person, may not be to another... Sprint TV & games on my TP2 has saved my a$$ many times with my kids, my fault pushing the kids sometimes... too long of a day, to hot, too long of a trip, etc.. I'm on the edge, they're over it, just needed something to keep the lid from blowing for the last hour... you probably won't know until you've been there.. :>))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jerryyyyy: you said "
My Titanium restore version would not install, so I downloaded a new version from the Marketplace. It would not run whether or not my install OCed."
So... you didn't say if it worked or not.. After you DL'd the new version, did it work? Unless " this pig does not fly on this build." was your way of saying, it still didn't work? :>)) I'm guessing then, no matter what you tried, you couldn't get ANY of the Angry Bird DLs to run?

Hmmm, I'll go try right now..
OK here's what I found: ANGRY BIRDS RIO WORKS GREAT ON FRX07 BUILD.

Thanks ARRRRGH, well it seems you can, however I admit that I am unsure, like I said if I was hurting the 07 setup, as I couldn't see any difference after I deleted the data file in andboot, and removed the android folder, which was then remade on 1st boot. (got 07 to build its own).

My problem seems to have been that renaming a folder to andboot, while using computer directly to adapter for memory card, the phone sees it as = ANDBOOT (all caps) instead of lowercase, which seems to cause things to fail. Had to rename with wm6 instead, and all is ok again.

I go back to 06 which is working well enough, just like I went back to 03 when 06 wasnt working for me, I think of if as a system restore point, like Acronis True Image, if you know what I mean, lol. I hate my mind's memory, I can hardly recall what each app is that I like, so I have to boot the old one to recall it, as the "market" doesnt seem to keep a list that me (who has to sign in to use it, downloaded in the past... which is stupid.).

How do I shut down XDADroid now?
when I press the red (hangup/end call key) in 07, I no longer get the airplane mode/shutdown choices. so how are you shutting your phone down, I have to remove battery, is that my only choice now?

Still getting about 4 or less hours out of batteries out here in the boonies (kansas) with Verizon (yes they suck, terrible reception/coverage). But so far no data connection loss causing reboots... Luckily I have 3 batteries I swap with my TP2.

Im looking for a car charger for just the battery if anyone knows of one, so I can charge spare battery while using the phone, WHEN NOT HOME (think camping, without houshold electricity, 12v only)...

Hold down the power button. End call is now mapped to home, so long press on it gives the recent apps menu. Long press on the power button still gives the power menu (as it did before...)

Re: Simple Guide FRX07!!, 6 Easy Steps (15 min): XDANDROID TP2 DL links

i've been playing around with FRX07 for a few days now and have the following issues.

1. I get no sound (incoming calls or any apps). I checked all my settings (silent mode is disabled, etc..) and cannot get any sound

2. cannot get a GPS lock (GPS is turned on in settings and light is always orange)

3. speaker phone always seems to be turn on when making/receiving calls. how do you turn it off? I tried hitting the "speaker" button in the phone dialer but nothing happens.

4. none of the games like angry birds seems to run. i get the loading the screen for a few seconds, then it just goes back to the android screen.

would appreciate any help on this.
thanks.
