About the startup.txt, as far as I understand, most linux distro's save information about the last startup; however, it is for diagnostic purposes, not for restoring settings. Unfortunately, I have not found whether Android does this or not, or if loading the linux kernel using Haret makes a difference. You could always try forcing the default frequency in the startup.txt so Haret loads it properly. For formatting the card really shouldn't matter, and I'm not sure this is helping fix people's issues. I know a fragmented card could lead to poor performance, and I guess you could have bad data next to good data. But it doesn't make a lot of sense. |

I am talking about system sound not call sounds. For some reason mine don't work now, perhaps a registry setting, I have been testing some nand files and perhaps that screwed with the registry settings. |

I noticed that what was causing this is that my startup.txt file was blank so here is what I did:
I am still having a problem where once haret launches, the white text freezes right away and will not continue booting. If I reboot my phone and try again it will work fine. So it takes me 2 tries to boot to Android EVERY time... Any ideas? |

Not sure what it is, but I'll probably patiently wait for the next build and hope that it works out better for me. I've run out of ideas/things to try - unless someone comes up with something new for us to try? |

Can someone post the zimage from the 8/26 release please?

They are all here:
http://glemsom.users.anapnea.net/and...htc-msm-linux/ And just a question of my own, do many of you always use the latest zimage and modules posted? Or do you wait and see? |

In all though, the build is great. Personally, the headset jack is probably the last thing left keeping me from staying on the android side full-time, though I can see how power would be an issue for some. But the build is really usable now, it's fantastic. I think it feels a lot snappier now than the last I tried (from a couple months ago). Thanks to the devs! |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
Agreed. Works like a charm.
I have run into some display issues, Some programs don't like landscape. Power is the only thing keeping me from running it more than 50% of the time. I use it a couple three hours per day, mainly for the apps and if I know I have a long conversation I'd rather have on Google Voice. Google Voice is scary awesome. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
Agreed with the 3.5mm jack. I would like to use Pandora in my car with the Aux port!

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
From our perspective, the awaiting masses with zero know-how, we each have our own priorities, be it headphones, camera, blue tooth, etc. I guess there is no harm in complaining, asking, begging, requesting or hoping for your desired feature is next, but I have a feeling that the devs could care less. They will make progress according to their own schedules, successes, failures, and some logical order to get the project done.
I am the type that sits back, enjoys their work as it is today, and when possible, help other members here with what I have learned from the side lines. But most of the problems people keep mentioning are KNOWN. Just keep updating your zimages and modules and help by reporting what is working better or worse constructively. We don't need 20 posts saying the sound is messed up. The devs get it after the first couple. Thanks to the developers! |

Overall, I'm a happy man: I got gmail, talk, voice, & echolink working, plus I have a shell I can kill random process from or run tcpdump from.
What I've also tried to do is copy an .mp3 file into the /system/media/audio/ringtones directory in hopes of not having to rescan from dev tools - It didn't work. Thanks, Devs! |

How I got mine to work again was to swap out my zimage and module file with newer versions from the linked site above. I used the second from the top edition. After I did that, everything is working as it was last week. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
ok i will admit im pretty new to the whole android thing but not to WM or TP2.
thing is when I load android I only get a signal part of the time... and when I do get a signal and try to either make a call or txt or even use the browser the program crashes or my whole phone resets. I have tried a ton of ways of loading itand only had a few diffrent minor results. I was thinking maybe I should flash a different radio? or is that stupid. also im on verizon running energy aug 28th 23xxx with cooky if that helps at all |

also, i didn't use the CAB version, i used the RAR version and copied the files to the storage card manually. that way the files were on the root of the storage card and not in the /andboot folder. seemed to work better for me that way. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
Alright... now the phone is mostly usable in Android.
Now that sound is working, getting 3D is real important! The system has hideous screen draw performance without working GPU acceleration. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
My sound is working great.
My ringers work. There are some dupes. I downloaded ringers from a link on this thread. wouldn't mind a free Uno game. anybody have a UNO apk? Cheers Bill |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
Does anyone have any issues with there lock screen freezing up after about 10 times of locking it and then causing the device to reset Android? I'm using a exchange so I have to enter a password, maybe that has something to do with it...
Also when your data connection is lost how to do you get back? Tired using the phone, then go to the browser. Nogo... Turn on Airplane mode, then go the browser. Nogo... And sometimes it will reset to windows??? But if I turn on Wifi use that for a minute, then turn it off. I get it to work, but I'm not always in a Wifi area. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
Yea, same issues here. Android runs fine, but after about 10 - 15 minutes, the phone will lock up at the lock screen. Sometimes Ill take it out of mypocket and see that it has crashed on a black screen. I will have to remove the battery and boot back into Windows. This release is not stable to use as a primary OS. I love it when it is working, I just cant get it to stay in Android. :(

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
The problem with most people here with the sound as SILENT with ring tones and text messages is that they need to add the AUDIO folder into the SD card before they reboot after the .cab is installed.
So do this guys, and u will have the full sounds for email, text, calls. 1) Intall the .cab, let it complete and do not reboot the phone. 2) drag the AUDIO folder you downloaded from http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...15&postcount=1 to andboot/media/ and replace the AUDIO folder. 3) Then go ahead and reboot the phone, and then start the haret icon. After all this there is no need to scan for audio files. |

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
i cant get any network connections with this build. i am using tp2 us cellular. any body know what i can do to solve this?
|
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not sure that will work because even when just installing the stock .cab, it already puts a few ringtones/notification sounds in the AUDIO folder and even those don't show up. I'll go ahead and try it though and report back
::EDIT:: Gave it a shot, and it still didn't work. Oh well :-/ Quote:

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
ANYONE HAVING ISSUES WITH MEDIA:
Android does not seem to recognize any of my media why is this? "The media scanner, that is supposed to scan the SD/Internal Storage looking for ringtones and notifications, was frequently crashing. It appears that it fails to analyze a folder or a file whose name contains non ANSI caracters thus failing to open it. So all the files/directories that contain accents or special characters will make the media service to crash. That's why the people that have only english (or non accentuated language) file names did not encouter that issue." More info, and a scanning app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1391 |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!
Weird, I don't know about folders with non ANSI characters but I definitely have songs that have Korean characters and Viet characters that are recognized fine. I put my music in a folder labeled Music in the base directory of the SD card.
