In hindsight, I probably should've made an extension that's not familiar to Windows, but would let me attach it. I also got a suggestion to put the ts-calibration file in the startups folder, which to me would create other problems - I guess if I grab a ts-calib for every phone...

Why not just throw it in a zip?

I've always had better luck calibrating my own. Extreme left and right keys just don't seem right if I don't.

Yea, just seems wrong considering the size of the file. But that probably would work.

I prefer making my own as well, but I need to make this as easy as I can for the newbies... need to be able to boot easily!

I did a search and saw where someone had a similar but different problem with booting into airplane mode.

I am using a RHOD500 on CDMA and having the same issue. I am using the RHOD500 startup.txt that is included and made sure that force_cdma=1. I have tried deleting my data.img file as well as downloading and "reinstalling" the entire package. So now I come to the experts for help.

I know you're CDMA, but a lot of carriers put SIM cards in the slot. Remove the SIM.

forgot to add that to things I tired b/c I don't keep a SIM card in, but SIM in or SIM out it still gets stuck in airplane mode

Ok, that's the only two things that'll screw it up. force_cdma=1 is in between the quotes after set cmdline right?

Also, you're sure the SIM has been removed...? Tons of 400's and 500's have used this bundle without this issue.

Has anyone been having issues with their system time on this build? I have been running ClockSync but I'm noticing that my drift is HUGE (within 10 secs of sync'ing with atomic time, my system time is already off by a full sec again). I didn't have this issue before when I was on the last official release so I'm wondering if I've messed with a setting or something.

lolwut?

wifi should work just fine... assuming you're using what's in the bundle. If you update the kernel, make sure you get the corresponding modules, and delete the old modules.

arrrghhh, saw someone posted that FRX05 is out. I will try it out; will you be posting an "official" thread? Thanks.

EDIT: nevermind, it's just a system.ext2 update, not like a whole bundle change. Thanks.

I will be making a new bundle, because of all the changes. I was hoping for WisTilt2's work to make it into the main kernel before making a new bundle, but oh well. Can't have it all.

Certainly. Shouldn't need a new data.img, just be prepared to create one if need be (just delete the old one and boot back to Android - note - this will blast out all apps/customizations you have installed/configured.)

swapped em, and wow...it's def a little quicker. Running it with 3.1 kernel...running good so far.

That's all I did yesterday, just copied the entire FRX04 folder that was on my sd already, d/l'd the FRX05 system.ext2 and the 3.1 kernel and it's running sweet.

Guys, wait for arrrghhh's official FRX05 bundle. However, if you want to test something I put together (tailored for Sprint mainly), here it is. I took arrrghhh's bundle in first post, threw in FRX05 system.ext2, customized it a little (changed the default wallpaper to something I like, took out foreign language apks (I don't use them so I got rid of them to save resources), etc), tweaked the rootfs.img (Sprint RHOD400 only) to change the buttons (I added some symbols to manekineko's rootfs (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...ml#post2058074) - the home screen is the power button and the power functionality is remapped to the end button, read manekineko's first post for the button mapping functionality; it will take some getting used to but it works great and you don't have to worry about setting up the home screen in spare parts), update the kernel to wistilt2's posted by arrrghhh (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...ost-fixed.html), and tweaked the startup.txt to OC to 614mHz (gives a little more performance but is very stable). The instructions are very simple:
  1. Download frx05_1276kernel.7z to temporary folder on your PC
  2. Extract it; it will contain the folder "frx05"
  3. Copy the "frx05" folder to your SD card (DON'T RENAME IT!); if you're already using FRX04, you may be able to still use the data.img with this bundle, just copy it to the "frx05" folder on your SD card.
  4. This is optional but I always disable GPS hardware under WinMo as I don't want it interfering with the initial setup; you can always go back and enable it later.
  5. In WinMo, navigate to the "frx05" folder and run haret.exe
  6. Be patient on the first boot (the new kernel log messages only take up one screen and looks like it stalled but it's not); just let it settle until the screen goes off (you will see a solid green LED or blinking green LED)
  7. Goto to Settings - Call setting and set up your voice mail number
  8. Goto Settings - Sound. Test the volume settings, test phone ringtones and notification ringtone
  9. Goto Settings - Display-Brightness, set Auto brightness. Set the screen timeout to 30 minutes (so that you can sync your account / update apps without timing out in the last few steps)
  10. Goto Settings - Location & security - Uncheck the first 2 options (use wireless networks, use GPS satellites); you can always re-enable this later once everything is stable of if you want to play around with the GPS.
  11. Goto Settings - Applications- Enable unknown sources
  12. Goto Settings - Setting account & sync and add your gmail account. Let the phone sync; when it's done, you should see the spinning/spiraling icon on the taskbar disappear
  13. Launch market and let it updates all the apps; again let it do its things, when everything is done, that download/install activity icons will no longer be animating. NOTE: it will be very very sluggish during this update, just relax and let it finish before attempting to use it.
  14. You're now good to go. Go back to the Settings - Display-Brightness and change the timeout back to 1 or 2 minutes to save battery.
  15. That's it, you should be able to use it now.

Main button mapping (Sprint RHOD400 only) change (from manekineko's rootfs):

Power Long Press: Switch between recent programs
End Call: Power off / End call
End Call Long Press: Android power menu

CHECK THIS OUT: I'M RUNNING SLINGPLAYER MOBILE ON THIS BUILD: Pretty decent considering I'm getting just slightly smoother video under WinMo. I recently bought my brother a SlingPlayer as a gift; I paid $30 to get the Android SlingPlayer Mobile apk for him; I'm borrowing his license now (if you register with another phone, it de-activates it from the previous phone it was assigned to); gonna return it later:

I did the same thing Ndno, used a rootfs I've been using that was modified by manekineko, Arrrghhh's FRX04 bundle, the FRX05 System.ext2 and this thing screams. Very nice, smooth, no issues other than a reboot after the original set up and since then no issues at all. Although I didn't modify the system.ext2, not sure how to do that without creating a disaster lol

Too bad it still has the horrible dialer we both hate.
I still didn't have the time to try to do a system.ext2 build from XDandroid, like arrrghhh suggested. Maybe then we can grab a dialer we like and put it in there.

Yeah I know about the dialer but I guess I can tolerate it for the stability in these builds.

I think I'm gonna grab the package you posted and give that one a shot too, although I have no issues with how I did it, I seem to be getting some messages about clusters needing to be resized or something or other, when booting and I never noticed them previously on FRX04, although it still boots fast and smooth and there's no issues when it running (as long as my airave is off). I turned off my old airave and didn't have issues, switch to the new one with EVDO data and had issues using the phone, dropped calls, etc, that everyone in my house had, so I switched on the older airave just to see what would happen and got a SOD lol. And when I tried to boot back again my startup.txt was 0B

Actually, this thread has a nice writeup using ADB or Android commander to modify the system.ext2 image: GUIDES & FAQs [Android]: ADB Workshop by Adrynalyne and Guide by Captainkrtek - xda-developers

For me, I mount that image under Ubuntu and hack away at it.

Darn, tried to OC it to 700Mhz, kept restarting back to WinMo. Ok, I better back off and go back to 614Mhz.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's just one of those "random" restarts to WinMo. I'm back to 700Mhz!
Camera works really well; video work fine (no sound as people have mentioned) but quality is not great. No hang, my TP2 sleeps fine after using the camera app.

By the way, I forgot to include the Live Wallpaper Picker apk in the little FRX05 bundle I posted a few posts back so I'm re-uping it now. The official FRX05 doesn't come with one and I can't install it as a standalone apk so I'll put it in system.ext2, which works fine.

I was trying to get this cool VR Tunnel Live Wallpaper working but no luck :(

I have everything set right on my verizon touch pro 2 and whenever I run haret.exe it runs through the booting and gets to a point that says kernal panic - not syncing. attempted to kill init! rebooting in 7 seconds. and then it soft resets.

Any ideas?

Well I guess since you have everything right it's pretty pointless for anyone to try to help you, now isn't it.

Am downloading and installing the FRX05 build tonight.... I am happy you are renaming the folders so I can keep older builds... eases testing.

I'll see if I can run it at 700Mhz. My chip seems to tolerate higher speeds...

Are you using the bundle in the first post? Or are you using the one (FRX05) I just posted? Remember, the one I posted has been setup to work with Sprint; for Verizon, you need to change the keyboard in STARTUP.TXT to rhod500. If you have trouble, make sure you don't overclock, i.e. remove the "cpuclock.oc_freq_khz=..." string. If you have your setup in a folder, make sure in "rel_path=<folder>" in STARTUP.TXT. It's hard to tell what's wrong with you setup because you haven't provided much info other than "you have everything set the way it should".

I'm using FRX04 from the first post. I extracted the folder to my desktop and then copied the contents to the root of my SD card after using the HP format tool. (I've been switching between a 2gb SD card and a 8gb class 4 I just bought today), then took the startup.txt file from the startup folder under rhod500 and moved it into the root of my SD card. After a few attempts I took the ts-calib file you posted in a zip file a few pages back. And I just hard reset my tp2 and I'm gonna try it again.

Hmmm, maybe it's not liking your SD card. Try adding this to the set cmdline in startup.txt:

msmsdcc_1bit msmsdcc_fmax=14000000 msmsdcc_nopwrsave

just put a space and copy thats in the quotations right?

set ramsize 0x10000000
set ramaddr 0x10000000
set mtype 2292
set KERNEL zImage
set initrd initrd.gz
set cmdline "lcd.density=240 msmvkeyb_toggle=off gsensor_axis=2,1,3 force_cdma=1 pm.sleep_mode=1 physkeyboard=rhod500 msmsdcc_1bit msmsdcc_fmax=14000000 msmsdcc_nopwrsave"
boot

so it would look like this correct? ^^^

Just wait for his "official bundle"; mine was just a test setup that's working for me. I posted mine to let you guys try out. The kernel in mine is the one arrrghhh posted (by wistilt2) in his other thread for testing: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...autobuild.html

Also, if you're using the FRX04 bundle in the first post, the kernel may be outdated; I believe that's what arrrghhh was referring to when he said "update the kernel".

I actually enjoy the bundles you put together, so thanks. Everything works fine for me. Are you still OC'd to 700? I'm thinking about it.

Yes, I am! It's been working for 8 hours straight without a glitch. Very fast and responsive. I'm tired of trying to save battery, and now with the kernel from wistilt2 that arrrghhh posted, the battery saving mechanism is great even when overclocked to 700Mhz. If you want to overclock to 700Mhz, edit your startup.txt and change it to "cpuclock.oc_freq_khz=716800"
