Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"

I can't seem to get my location to work. I have both GPS and wireless networks boxes checked. I installed after a clean format using the HP tool. I even started completely over 2 days ago. Everything else works great with the exception of the accelerometer which I believe isn't supposed to be working with this build anyway, unless I missed something. I have a Sprint Rhod 400. Any ideas?

I'm confused.

You sound like you're describing the Gingerbread build (which g-sensor doesn't work on currently). In this build, the g-sensor should work just fine.

To help out GPS, use QuickGPS in WinMo first. This dramatically reduces lock times for me - the more up to date QuickGPS is, the faster locks you'll get in Android. Wish we could find an app that does this in Android, but the method in which the QuickGPS application affixes the data onto the GPS might not work for us in Android yet...

Netloc (aka cell-tower location) does not work for CDMA at the moment. I'm trying hard to get that resolved, but it is going to involve some RIL fun it seems.

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"

Loaded everything directly to the root of my SD card into a FRX04 folder, changed the rel_path=FRX04 in start up text but am unable to get fully booted into Android. It seems to want to load but say something along the lines of 1690 cannot boot, a few seconds go by and shows 1693 cannot boot. Not sure exactly what it says being it goes by so quick but what did I do wrong? Any help would be great, after using other Android build I'm looking forward to a much stable build to work with.

Hrm, nothing sticks out. Can you try kernel 1258? Perhaps a fresh format of your SD card using the HP tool?

Is a data.img file even being created? That's not enough info to go off of unfortunately, I'm hoping that it's just that clocks issue - in which case 1258 should fix it.

Are you getting the touchscreen config at boot or is it covering it with text.

Try grabbing arrrghhh's file on the first post, take off the .txt extension, toss it in the root and reboot.

I guess I will give the 1258 kernel a try with that hopefully fixing the problem. The install was done on a freshly reformatted SD card to eliminate any mixup. It does say creating a data.img than seems to boot up as normal but after about 10 mins I get running text. When looking at what seems to be hanging up it say "untracked pid 1678 exited" not sure exactly what that means.

I grabbed the ts configure file and have already put it in my FRX04 folder and tried booting.

I just used the 1260 kernel on xda last night to get everything installed and it worked great.

Just making sure.. did you go check the "show known file extensions" and then remove the .txt from that file?

If not, it won't do much of anything.

Once I unzipped the file with WinRAR I copied the file over, I didn't see anything that said "show known file extensions" if you could PM how to get it to work it would be great

Just booted it up and am seeing the flying droids! Thanks for your quick and easy help, I haven't come to a screen to calibrate the screen yet but will give it time.

That should completely bypass the whole config screen.

I remember that screwing me up too because it gets hidden by a wall of text and then freezes.

Make sure and check out the 1260 kernel/zimage on xda. It seems to work better then the 1258 from what I've seen.

I have tried updating kernels in the past and don't understand what exactly to d/l. While reading the xda post it says d/l both if you use wifi, if not than d/l only the zimage. Once d/l I assume just putting them directly into my sd card/ frx04 folder and than boot haret. This there anything that I am missing that I should look for while updating the kernel?

Those who have clocking issues 1260 will probably work worse for... Doesn't seem to effect all devices/SD's tho, it's an odd one.

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"

Just delete your old zimage/module and replace them with the new one.

Make sure to remove all the junk so the new zimage just says "zimage"

So, I won't be too mean :p.

There's been several theories. The one that seems to work the most consistently is backup everything on the SD and format it using the HP Tool. Put everything back on the SD, try again.

I've also heard there's a mediascanner you can force rerun. Gingerbread will hopefully fix this, as the ringtones will be in the system image instead of on the SD (media folder).

i read the FAQ but it wasnt specific to my tone issue. Will try reformating the card. thanks,

An easy way for next time is to open the file in notepad, and when you save it, 1) Put quotes around the file name; and 2) Save an "ANSI".

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"

That did the trick, (formating the sd card). All media files are now showing up now.

There's a reason, just finding it is the problem ;).

If you use adb, you can pull the logs from /data/system/dropbox. Otherwise you can fire up a terminal and cp the files in that directory to your SD card, then move them from your SD to your PC. Look for the SYSTEM_LAST_KMSG files - the last file (numerically) will be your most recent log.

Losing data connection is a known issue unfortunately. Usually disabling data and reenabling data fixes it (note - I'm not talking about airplane mode, I mean disable the data cxn under Settings).

Also, there's tons of reasons for reboots to WinMo - one of the top ones is a bad SD card. That was causing a ton of reboots for me - I wouldn't go out and buy a new card but if you have one handy might be a good idea to swap it and see.

arrrghhh, are you familiar with the default apps that comes in the system.ext2 image? Fishingmedic and I can't stand the dialer that comes with FRX04. We like the dialer in Tiad8's Froyo X Red build; I have been trying to dissect his system.ext2 and "port" (OK, just really "copy") the related *.apks over to the FRX04 system.ext2. I got it to show up graphically but I get a FC trying to use it. Like you said, the default apps in Tiad8's Froyo X build is based off neopeek or huwanei so the dialer I'm trying to bring over is probably not compatible with the FRX04 framework. Anyways, just thought I ask; maybe I should jump onto XDAndroid chat (IRC) and ask StineBD.

EDIT: just found this link: http://www.market4android.com/stock-...-2-1-apps-list
It shows the default apks that come with the system image (system.ext2). It's mounted under /system and the apks are in /system/app. I imported the phone.apk and telephonyprovider.apk from Tiad8's Froyo X Red system.ext2; the dialer showed up fine but I get a FC trying to use it. I'm going to play around with it more.

I've already asked about the dialer in FRX04, and the problem is we support too many devices. Evidently that dialer screen (which is in fact the AOSP default dialer) only works on HDPI devices. RAPH/DIAM users would have issues if we use that dialer.

So I've tried to cross that bridge with stinebd, but he won't change it... You're more than welcome to try.

I think I'm on to something. Been running android all day without an issue since I left home this morning. What I think is causing my data connection loses and reboots to windows is my airave. It only happens at home. Been out all over the place and using the phone without a glitch. What do you think?

Oh yea, Airave is not supported. Didn't realize you were using one of those. I have no clue what the problem with them is however... Sorry I can't be more help, I don't have one.

I can understand the data portion but how would it cause the reboots?. I'm. Almost home so I'm sure I can replicate the reboot.

Lots of reasons for reboots. If we knew why, they'd probably be fixed :p.

Some can't be fixed (bad SD card for example) but others we should be able to sort out in time. So much code, so little time...

Arrrghhh, never knew that about Airaves.... Got one sitting next to me right now, lmao... I dropped another reboot log into the testing thread because last night went to bed in android FRX04 and woke up to winmo. It's strange though, doesn't happen all the time. Could you take a look at the log and let me know if you think that's the cause of it?

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"

Hey fish, I've been trying to swap out the dialer without luck. I was trying to replace the Phone.apk and Contacts.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk in the system.ext2 but they seem to be dependent on other files in the system.ext2.

I tried replacing them with the Cyanogen dialer *.apks ([MOD] Contacts.apk & Phone.apk w/ 315x315 callerID ( Eclair 2.1, Froyo AOSP, CM )) but no luck either. I thought it would work since that link mentioned that the packages are compatible with Froyo 2.2.1 AOSP, on which FRX04 is based. It's probably not working because the apks are cross-compiled for another processor different than the one on our TP2.

Oh well, I'll stop for now until I get some time to work more on it.

Like I posted earlier, Went all day (away from airave) without a hicup. So the airave must be doing something to the radio portion that the OS doesnt like. I guess the airave doesnt have the same exact signal as a real cell tower.
I looked but I cant find, can we force roaming with this build?

I think you have to roll your own system image. Seems easily doable (I have the full build enviro setup) so I can try it tonight. Problem is, then we'll have two system images for FRX04, and my image won't be signed. Really wish we could fix the layout issues with MDPI devices, but without having one I can't really fix anything... Oh well.

I'm not sure if there is a way to force roaming. Have you tried without your airave? A lot of people have reported issues using the airave - IIRC, the issue was with data only, voice was fine. So perhaps try disabling data when you're around the airave?

Thanks... I think I'll try to build the system.ext2 over the weekend using the instructions on XDAndroid.com. I have my Ubuntu virtual machine set up and I installed all the necessary software, libraries, etc so it's ready to go. I need to pull the Froyo from the GIT repo and play around with it and try to understand it and then maybe I can try replacing the dialer apk.

Looks like you guys are getting over the hump with the NAND flash issue you had this past week. I'm meeting my friend this weekend so he's lend me his cracked-screen TP2. He also has the older TP model; the NAND project you guys have going, will that work with a Sprint TP?

I have an airave which is voice/text only and I have an airvana which is voice/text/data, although I had nothing but problems with the airvana so I D/C'd that and went back to the airave without data, so... I'm not sure if that's the issue or not, although it very well may be just causing mass confusion with the radio, since it's not connecting to a cell tower and uses distant locations for weather, etc (always gives a location nowhere near my house, I live in CT but always shows NY or NJ on weather when I'm in range of the airave).

Nope, won't work on the TP yet. We're hoping to expand it, but unfortunately not a lot of devs have that device... same with DIAM. Users still want NAND, but very few devs have the device.

Thanks. Bt the way, this build is solid as a rock. Combined with wistilt2' test kernel, I can use it all day. I get a reboot to winmo once in a long while but that's pretty much the extent of the problem. Wifi works great; actually when I use wifi I think I get better battery life, probably brcause I'm only getting 1 or 2 bars at my house.

Ironically, wifi draws less power than 3g... Even if the radio has "full service".

You are going to love WisTilt2's newest kernel... I'm hoping he'll throw me the pack soon :D.
