arrrghhh, I came across this as I was modding my G Tablet: [STICKY][Patch][Rom]Malware Exploit for all pre-Gingerbread devices - xda-developers
The Mother Of All Android Malware Has Arrived: Stolen Apps Released To The Market That Root Your Phone, Steal Your Data, And Open Backdoor | Android News, Reviews, Apps, Games, Phones, Tablets, Tips, Mods, Videos, Tutorials - Android Police Supposedly all "pre-Gingerbread" devices are vulnerable. So if you install one of the apks listed, it can steal info from your TP2. I see that there's a fix here for the Epic: [Patch]Malware Exploit for all pre-Gingerbread phones - xda-developers. Not sure if it's the same for the TP2 we're using: Quote:

Any recent updates? The first post in this thread still shows the last update as March 26.
Or if this is not the right place, please let me know where I can find more timely Android builds for the TP2 CDMA. Thanks! |

I post the most 'stable' stuff for everyone - however there is a lot of testing stuff flying around currently. I'm trying to pull all the merge requests and test them, and it seems like stinebd has accepted most if not all of them - so we should have some pretty big updates in the pipeline. I also don't do small incremental updates - sorry. Not much has changed in the autobuild-realm of things which is what I make these builds off of. New stuff is in the pipeline, please be patient! |
Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX06 - "Stable" - Minor Fixes
Okay, that makes sense.
I just wasn't sure if this was still "the" thread to watch for (stabile) updates. I just read somewhere about how much progress is being made on a daily basis and wanted to get my hands on said progress. I can be patient. It's just really hard when it's soooo close to being my fulltime OS. If it weren't for the random reboots during inactivity, I'd be fine with the current build. |

Neither *should* happen obviously, but the reasons can vary. Reboots to WinMo could be anything from an actual bug in the kernel, to your SD card becoming unavailable and causing the system to reboot - a while back I was getting a lot of these and I found (thru logs) that it was the SD card. Reboots within Android usually seem to happen to me when the system hangs. For example, if I'm downloading several apps from the Market and if several try to install themselves at the same time, usually that causes the system to freeze up and eventually I just see the flying droids again. We're working to fix all issues, but obviously there's a lot of factors. A lot of stuff is in testing, if you feel you can help out then jump in. If you want to wait, then no biggie - this thread will get updated when new stuff comes thru the pipeline. Sometimes it just takes a while to integrate code, as we support many, many devices and we have to be sure that all devices work with the new code that gets committed. We're working very hard to prevent regressions, so it takes time. Thanks! |

Otherwise the stability does seem to be getting better. I used to get more frequent "soft" resets (animated Android logo), but not so much anymore. I do appreciate all your (and other's) hard work. I wasn't trying to be a complainer, just wanted to make sure I'm monitoring the right thread to get the latest stuff. Thanks for the reply. |

Anyhoo, re-reading my post I'm not sure where I wasn't clear - reboots to WinMo = you were in Android, and next you look at your phone it's in WinMo. It's not a reboot within WinMo, it's a reboot to WinMo. Hopefully that is clear, but from your description we are on the same page. Without seeing any logs from these reboots, I would just hazard a guess and suggest trying a different SD card. As for the SoD's where the screen is black and nothing (and I mean NOTHING) will wake it back up - it doesn't respond to usb/adb connections, sliding the phone doesn't work, etc - most of these lockups are related to the RIL, which there is a new RIL in testing that has almost completely resolved this issue. I'm hoping the new RIL will get integrated soon, as that will be a big boost to the system for everyone. Lots was changing with the RIL frequently, but I think it's almost "done". I will post an update to this build when it's all integrated, you can rest assured of that ;). |

Just thought I'd check in and see when the next full update might be released and if that would include working BT. Also, if I'm asking a duplicate question, I apologize as I don't have time right now to review the thread for the answer to this question, but I'm having difficulty getting exchange server to sync with Android. It works fine with my Outlook and my MightyRom on my TP2, but nothings seems to work on Froyo. Any thoughts?

Exchange works great for me. Getting the settings correct was the hard part.

FRX06 - No Data Connection - Carrier Provisioning - Costa Rica
Thank you devs for FRX06, my first Android experience & fun to play with on my Tilt 2.
I searched the FAQ & this thread for Data Connection and Carrier Provisioning to no avail. I live in Costa Rica and my carrier is ICE Celular (the only network in the country @ the present, same band specs as AT&T), using EDGE for data which works fine in WM 6.5.3. I dunno how to get data connection working in FRX06, browser & Gmail app says no data connection. Using WiFi browser works fine as well as Gmail app. On Home I can see my carrier's name. Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Data is enabled. Network operators > it auto searches but does not show the carrier's name. Is that normal? Also tried Select automatically and it says "Registered on network" but still no data joy. :( Also tried "Use only 2G networks" as I don't have a 3G account, still no go. I rebooted after selecting the settins & still "No network connection". Other questions: is it possible not to have to slide to unlock every time the screen turns off? I did not see any option for that in Set up screen lock. Looking for suggestions for a good task manager & a widget to show free RAM available on the taskbar. |

Yes, I use FRX06_Full_Bundle_25.3.2011\FRX06\STARTUPS\RHOD\RH OD300_Tilt2 > startup.txt with same content as you posted. It's in the memory card's root as well as all the content of FRX06. Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > opens a tab with the title APNs in a gray bar but it's a black screen under it with nothing to click nor to type into. Tapping that black screen does not bring up anything. ***** @ 86shelby: "Don't worry about free RAM with froyo, it is irrelevant." - Still, is there a way to show free RAM on the taskbar? |

As for data, did you setup the APN correctly? Since you have an odd carrier, you'll probably need to put in a valid APN for it. Also, does your carrier require any tricks to get thru to the open internet like a proxy? |

"...Since you have an odd carrier" - ain't odd for us as it's a state monopoly so everybody is using it here. I'm not a programmer but here is a pointer for future built where I can see my icecellular carrier: an accurate working list of APN's for cyanogen (and other?) builds (Android). How could I use this .xml in FRX06? OR: this registry key from WM 6.5.3 & EDGE data settings that works on my Tilt 2. How could I import this in FRX06 or translate the binary data so I could input it in Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names and the settings? [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Connectivity] "APN Info"=hex:31,00,2c,00,69,00,63,00,65,00,63,00,65,0 0,6c,00,75,00,6c,00,61,\ 00,72,00,00,00,00,00 Or is there an other key I could export from WM to import in FRX06 to fix the data connection problem? "For the slide to unlock disable, you'll have to go with some third party app..." - Any suggestion, name or link maybe? |

Re: FRX06 - No Data Connection FIX - Invalid APNs - Costa Rica GSM Edge APN
I formatted the memory card & reinstalled FRX06 as per steps in post #1. As described above, no data for my carrier ICE Celular in Costa Rica. Used Wifi to download APN Backup & Restore & made a backup before tweaking the APN settings.
Surprise, surprise, my carrier is one of the 7 Invalid APNs out of the 940 in FRX06's APN list according to APN Backup & Restore: Quote:
For Costa Rica GSM/Edge/GPRS the APN settings are: Name: ICE JB (my initials) APN: icecelular Proxy: 172.27.10.4 Port: 8080 MMS proxy: 172.27.10.4 MMS port: 8080 MCC: 712 MNC: 01 Authentication type: PAP ----> And leave all the rest blank. In APN Backup & Restore xml file created after fixing the settings: <apn name="ICE JB" numeric="71201" mcc="712" mnc="01" apn="icecelular" user="" server="" password="" proxy="127.27.10.4" port="8080" mmsproxy="127.27.10.4" mmsport="8080" mmsprotocol="null" mmsc="" type="" /> Instead of what's in not working in the current FRX06's APN list: <apn name="ICE Celular" numeric="712null" mcc="712" mnc="null" apn="icecelular" user="" server="null" password="null" proxy="null" port="null" mmsproxy="null" mmsport="null" mmsprotocol="null" mmsc="null" type="" /> ***** To see the entire FRX06 APN list, swich APN, backup & other stuff, the free APN Manager in the Market works fine for me. |
Re: FRX06 - Kill Slide to Unlock & Landscape on Boot
If like me you are tired of having to slide to unlock every time after the screen turns off get the free No Lock in the Market. It's a simple toggle switch to disable/enable the auto lock "feature" as there are no way in FRX06 to disable it or enter a long delay in Settings > Location & security settings > Setup screen lock. :( If you are also using Super Manager, disable Auto Memory Cleanup in it's Settings otherwise it will break No Lock.

I know you said you just formatted it, but I'm betting it was with the build in Windows or WinMo utilities - which are broken, and why I recommend the HP Tool linked above. It's also in the first post... Quote:
