[BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX06 - "Stable" - Minor Fixes
2 Attachment(s)
Please read this entire post
<<<This is a link to the... FAQ Click it!!>>> I have created a complete bundle of Froyo with a stable kernel from GIT (Feb 28 / 1276), and rootfs from GIT (Feb. 24). Please, feel free to DONATE to the XDAndroid project! Every little bit helps! Directions: 1. Download the full bundle (zip). (Updated Mar. 25 2011) If instead you just want the system.ext2 (zip) (Updated Mar. 25 2011) file by itself... 2. Extract it. You’ll see a folder, FRX06, copy its contents to the root of your SD card. If you want to run Android from a folder instead of all the files on the root of the card, follow the steps below. 3. Go into the STARTUPS folder. Grab the appropriate startup.txt for your device (if you don't know what device you have, you should read the FAQ), and move it to the root of the card (or where you run haret.exe from. If you want to change the location of the build, put a rel_path= statement in the cmdline section of the startup.txt. Mine is located two folders deep on the SD, so my rel_path=Androids/TP2Ref) 4. Download the ts-calibration file from this post (should work for RHOD/TOPA, Blackstone users download the ts-calibration_blac.zip) and extract the .zip to where you run haret.exe from - typically the root or 'base' folder of the SD card. Not within any folders, unless you run haret.exe from a folder! **To calibrate manually, you must use an older kernel from GIT (some have to use 1225) and generate the ts-calibration file. Once you have the calibration file hold on to it (make 15 copies if it's a good one :p), reboot & go back to the newest kernel! Thanks** 6. Run haret.exe.. Profit! :D Let it settle out on the first boot. Many have reported they had to reboot basically because it was so slow - if you let it sit for about 10 mins so the media scanner can go thru everything, etc. it will be much more pleasurable experience. If you want adb in and watch the processes via top, you'll see why the phone seems so slow - there's lots of background processes cranking because this is the first boot ;). Troubleshooting: Please read the... FAQ If you have any issues with the kernel, feel free to change it: There are some devices that are having issues with the newest kernels. Please see the kernel autobuild service to get archived kernels. Once you download a replacement kernel, go to where you run haret.exe from - remove your old zImage/modules-xxxxx.tar.gz. Take the new zImage/modules-xxxxx.tar.gz and replace the old ones, same folder - where you run haret.exe from. Make sure the ‘zImage’ is named just that. Do not rename the modules file, do not extract it - should be in .tar.gz format. In addition, I am using the newest rootfs from GIT - Feb. 24. There are other rootfs options, see F22’s thread if you want to use more keys or move around the home button. Of course, there's always the roofs autobuild service if you want "stock" rootfs images - F22 builds his off of these and modifies them ;). Random issues can often be solved by forcing the system to create a new data.img. If you're worried about losing data, Titanium Backup works quite well. If you wish, you can rename the data.img to something else, and let the system create a new one - just to see if it resolves your problem. Similarly, if you wish try formatting your SD card - I prefer to use the HP Tool - do a full format, FAT32. Even though this build is considered fairly stable, you are more than likely going to run into issues. The next post will address issues particular to this build - PLEASE READ THESE before asking questions! Feel free to post questions in this thread, I will do my best to address them. Big thanks to stinebd for releasing the system image, and of course the other developers for their hard work on making these kernels available. |

Things broken in this build:
There's a lot of other things that will break at random, I know I list it as stable - but it's not really. Hence the reason it's in quotations. |

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"
what makes this any different than the ROYO x RED that tiad / ndmo have been working on?

This is the XDAndroid official build, and as I understand it, it is based on the official Android Open Source Project from Google, ported to our phones. The Froyo X build is based on the ROM from a HuaWei phone, with parts from other builds, including the official XDAndroid builds, mixed in. Overall, the XDAndroid builds are closer to stock, while the FroyoX builds are more customized. For example, the XDAndroid builds only have the stock apps, whereas the FroyoX builds are bundled with a bunch of apps tiad8 likes. Because the XDAndroid builds are closer to stock, they're easier to support and develop/bugfix for, because there are a lot more unaccounted variables in FroyoX. From an end user perspective, listening to the fans of each side, it seems like FRX04 is more stable, while FroyoX is tweaked to be faster. However, keep in mind that almost all of the problems listed in my big list of known issues are actually kernel/driver level issues, which apply to all builds. |
Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"
Does this has WisTilt2's battery fixes.
I'm guessing probably not but thought I'd ask anyway |

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"
Thanks arrrghhh, finally a very stable FRX04 package :)
Seems very responsive even at stock speed. I ran Quadrant benchmark and got scores in the high 400's; the highest I got was 527... very close to Tiad8's FroyoX build. I'm using Zeam because Launcher2 is somewhat slow. Do you overclock yours at all? |

I go between 700mhz (692 something in reality...) and no OC usually - I find it is more responsive and friendlier to mutlitasking with the OC, but I also seem to get more hiccups and problems... I guess that's the tradeoff. Haven't really tried all the different levels - there are quite a few in fact if you wanted to go thru every iteration the proc is capable of ;). |
Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"
Hmmm...everything works well but I ran into one problem. The hard call/send button (1st left button on the bottom) won't bring up the dialer. :( I was having the same issue in the package I put together and I thought it was my doing. It worked on the first boot but didn't anymore on succeeding boots. I must have set the send button to something else by accident. I wonder if it's something related to Zeam.
UPDATE: Nevermind, I'm a moron. #-o Something is really wrong with my send button. If I press hard, it now works. Hmmm... it must have stuck. :dontknow: |
Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"
i'm having trouble booting. stupid question; my phone is a t7379- that is a rhod 400, right?
i have no trouble booting froyo x or sense x, but this build won't get past the first boot screen with the scrolling letters, i've left it for about 45minutes. any suggestions? |

Attached is mine; I have the contents under the "frx04" directory (which is the directory when you unzip the bundle) on my SD card. The one included in the package here is very small; mine has extra stuff on the "set cmdline" line (including camera stuff that won't affect anything). |

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"
Does this work on a Rhod 100???
Loads of Rod 100 were having trouble with GSM on Froyo Red, but I would like to try this, but don't want to mess about if it is like Red and doesn't work on a Rhod 100! |

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"
Thanks Arrrghhh, Been playing with FRX04 all afternoon and not one screen freeze on my Rhod100.
GSM working fine (showing BT Cellnet and not O2) I know BT Cellnet is O2. Txt working fine no probs Keyboard good no probs My wifi wont with in WEP-I have downloaded Wifi Ace, but I'm not sure on what to configure in the app (help anyone?) Market place all ok, although did have aproblem downloading a few apps, but I believe it was more the app than FRX Gmail all good Battery seems to drain pretty quick compared to WM6.5, but will charge fully and monitor it to get a better idea. Can the phone be sync'd with pc (as in WM6.5 and active sync) is there a download to do this?? Overall really good:thumbleft: Thanks again |
Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX04 - "Stable"
You can't use it as USB storage since you cannot mount the SD card to the computer but you can use DroidExplorer to view files on the SD card and install/uninstall Android Apps. Just google DroidExplorer.

So far very good. The smoothest XDAndroid build I have tried. I had one SOD; last when I went to sleep I just left my phone sitting there and it went into power saving mode (green led); this morning when I woke up, I couldn't wake it up, the LED was still green. I'm using the package with a couple changes: I OCed mine to 614.4 Mhz and changed the rootfs to manekineko's rootfs with the kb/button change, which does have the system_server bug fix. I'll attach the log when I get to my PC.
Edit: Attach is the kmsg log after I pulled the battery and rebooted. I'm going to switch to wistilt2's 1253 test kernel and see how it goes. Sent from my MSM using Tapatalk |

I do not sync with google for Contacts, or Calendar. **Watch the install as it will offer to install eBay toolbar. |

If you're trying to sync contacts, TitaniumBackup will backup your contacts to your SD (along with all your other apps, etc if you wish). Additionally, if you're just looking to sync contacts - I sync with Google and get all my contacts in WinMo and in Android - that way I don't have to worry about syncing anything manually, and my contact list is always up to date between OSes (if I add a contact in Android, it gets synced to Google acct and pushed to WinMo, same if a contact is added in WinMo - it's all sync'd thru your Google account...) |

Here are some HTC drivers for your PC HTC / Default SDK Drivers Your phone should show USB Connected & USB debugging connected - at the top of your screen as soon as you connect via USB. My PC shows under Remove Media & Eject Media (Eject XDA) Running Win 7, Rhodium 400. I think those were the drivers I used, really not sure as I tried several things and didn't document anything. Hope this helps. I know I have files that I need to transfer on my PC plus I don't like having to go thru google to sync my contacts & calendar appointments. If I've Helped You, Please Click on Thank You. |
