Been using FRX05 without any problems for a week solid. No major issues at all. Only slight annoyances:

- Even with OC, the phone tends to be sluggish at times.
- 3.5 mm jack. I use my phone as media device for about 2-3 hrs a day. So wish I could use my earphones.

However, since this Android port is still the developing stage, I can live with the phone as is. All in all, I am a happy camper.\\:D/
Thank you to all the developers who make the TP2 keep on going and going and going.:notworthy:

P.S. Looking forward to the stable realease of FRX05 Nand Boot.

Yea... I guess I should add this to the FAQ as well. Which I assume you read? :p.

At any rate, the power button operates... like a power button.

So does end, unless you remap it. In spare parts, you can set the "End Key Behavior" to go to home instead of be power.

FRX05 doesn't have spare parts out of the box, but the app is available from the Market.

It's in the FRX05 bundle you posted :)

FRX05\AndroidApps\Other\SpareParts.apk

Development.apk is there also if it's not already part of system.ext2

If you're using kernel 1253 or newer you can use the usb dongle for headphones. And you can buy the usb adaptor on ebay for 2-3 bucks.

Every time I boot up FRX05 or FRX04, and even if I do a proper shutdown immediately, there are always two 32k corrupt files found on the SD card. The really odd part is it is the exact same two files each time. One is text followed by binary, the other is all binary. Even stranger, when I was running FRX04, it was the same file, just the FRX04 version. Here are excerpts:

FRX04:
Code:

# begin build properties
# autogenerated by buildinfo.sh
ro.build.id=FRX04
ro.build.display.id=FRX04
ro.build.version.incremental=eng.bryan.20110121.213411
ro.build.version.sdk=8
ro.build.version.codename=REL
ro.build.version.release=2.2.1
ro.build.date=Fri Jan 21 21:35:50 EST 2011
ro.build.date.utc=1295663750
ro.build.type=eng
ro.build.user=bryan
ro.build.host=carbunkl
ro.build.tags=release-keys
ro.product.model=MSM
ro.product.brand=generic
ro.product.name=full_msm
ro.product.device=msm
ro.product.board=msm
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi

FRX05:
Code:

# begin build properties
# autogenerated by buildinfo.sh
ro.build.id=FRX05
ro.build.display.id=FRX05
ro.build.version.incremental=eng.bryan.20110301.185226
ro.build.version.sdk=8
ro.build.version.codename=REL
ro.build.version.release=2.2.2
ro.build.date=Tue Mar  1 18:53:33 EST 2011
ro.build.date.utc=1299023613
ro.build.type=userdebug
ro.build.user=bryan
ro.build.host=carbunkl
ro.build.tags=release-keys
ro.product.model=MSM
ro.product.brand=generic
ro.product.name=full_msm
ro.product.device=msm
ro.product.board=msm
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi

I've done a couple reinstalls, and of course a full upgrade from FRX04 to FRX05, and there's simply no possible way those same files are residing on the exact same sectors of the SD card, so I really don't think it is the SD card itself. Is this happening to anyone else?

Are you talking about the FSCK*.REC files that are generated at the root of the SD?

They're annoying, but you can just delete them with a command in the froyo.user.conf file.

The reason for the FSCK files is we are not shutting down the system properly - something about running on SD prevents us from being able to shut down the system properly. I'm not too clear on the details, I think it has something to do with not being able to power down the SD & umount the FS safely...?

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX05 - "Stable" - Camera!

Okay, I took a different SD card, formatted it FAT32, installed virgin FRX05, placed it in a totally different TP2 (so 100% different hardware, card and device), booted into Android. Once it was up I did a normal power off and let Android shut down and turn the device off. Pulled the SD card, popped it in my laptop, and it found two corrupt 32k files, the exact same files as my other device and SD card.

Something is going on that Android is corrupting the FAT32 file system in a consistent way. I can't imagine it is supposed to work this way?

Can someone else pop their SD into a windows machine and do an error check on the card and see if it finds errors? It will dump the files into FOUND.000 (FOUND.001, etc number increments each time you run error check and it finds corrupt files) on the SD card, and inside you should see two 32k files FILE0000.CHK and FILE0001.CHK.

Oh I see what you're saying... Yea I don't ever scan the card with Windows after running Android on it. Just seems like a bad idea :p.

Seriously tho, what does it matter? We already know that Android doesn't get shutdown correctly, and Linux spits out FSCK records from not being shut down correctly. Not surprised Windows also spits out errors.

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX05 - "Stable" - Camera!

The problem is the FAT32 filesystem is corrupted every time Android runs, even if it is a clean shutdown. And since it always happens with the exact same two files it is something that is happening explicitly, not randomly.

A few days ago I had a reset, and afterward FRX05 was totally unstable and would reset every 20-30 minutes. After 6 or 7 resets I popped the card into my laptop, had it fix the errors, and then stability was back to normal - went all day and the next with no resets. So whatever this filesystem corruption is it does have an impact on the resets.

For it to be corrupting the filesystem every single run there is a fundamental IO problem.

There is no such thing as a clean shutdown, as I've said before. We never properly unmount the partitions off the card.

Bad SD cards can cause issues with Android, and I have had kernel panics and reboots to WinMo from SD card issues. I just swapped the card, they disappeared.

Honestly, if this is a problem/worry for you stick to WinMo until the project is complete. Thanks.

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX05 - "Stable" - Camera!

I didn't realize the volume isn't unmounted. I'm not complaining, I'm pointing out a pattern that I've noticed that is beyond random corruption in the hope that it might be helpful for those working on kernels and drivers. I guess I'm bringing this up in the wrong place. I also specifically stated that I've not only used entirely different SD cards, but entirely different TP2s as well, so it's not a bad SD card.

I've not seen any FSCK### files on my SD card, so it appears the corruption I'm seeing is not being repaired when linux boots. This is further evidenced by the instability I saw until I repaired the card using Windows. People that are having major stability problems should try scanning their card in Windows just to see if that helps.

Pretty interesting that the corruption always occurs in the same places. I wonder if there's anything that can be done with that information.

However, take a look here, maybe add your information:
Bug 89 – File system errors build up over time

Heh, I think my user.conf's remove them so you don't have to deal with them ;).

I'm sure they're there.

I'm not upset or anything, just there really is no fix for this issue AFAIK, as I understand it the issue will be present until we're full NAND.

Sprint Touch Pro2 uses RHOD400 startup? I tried it out, booted up fine but I get 'no service' everything else seems to run snappy. Tried RHOD500, 300 and 100 and get nothing. Checked 'force_cdma=' and ensured they were all set to '1' in the startups I tried. Also the led is always orange.. good or bad? Help?

thanks prox. i removed the sim and ran it off RHOD400 and it booted and showed '3g service' in the top panel but ran for about a minute before freezing and restarting the phone.. i tried it about 4 times now and the same thing happens. runs for a few minutes or seconds then reboots the whole phone

Has anyone noticed that the charger stops charging at 100%. (i searched and i've noticed other people are having the same problem on other phones flashed or stocked android, but none offer a fix except to turn the phone off) I know that its a safety feature to prevent overcharging the battery. My problem is i usually leave my phone plugged in overnight while i sleep and have a full battery in the morning.

This just lets it discharge until the battery runs out. I noticed that when its 100% it stops and i unplug and plug it back in will not let it charge. I tested it out by letting it fall below 70% (charged to 100% left charger in and checked 3 hrs later) and it will still not charge it back up, so i unplugged and plugged back in and it will not charge.

The only way it would charge is if i take out the battery for a few seconds then it will charge it back to 100% and repeat the cycle.

Quite frustrating that i can never wake up with a full battery.

(also what are so times you guys are getting with a full battery charge? light-moderate use (im getting 5 hours only the battery goes green then orange then green then orange constantly but like every 10 seconds)

Thanks!

This is status quo for all TI-based chipsets (RAPH, DIAM, BLAC, TOPA). There's a bug already on the bugtracker, so no need to open one - problem is, priority. In the grand scheme of things that's a pretty small bug ;).

Could you please put on the 1st post, exactly which WinMo version of the android launcher app you are using for this build? I had XDandroid's working, then I cleaned off my working FRX03 build? anyway, once I did that, the app wouldnt launch, I had to go in and rename folders then it would kind of launch, it would boot, load home then reboot back to windows, so I am unsure what all I missed on this build compared to frx05? I have and OLDER? version of xdandroid startup app, 2011_01_23?

thanks.

I do not support nor distribute said app. As is stated in the first post, you run haret.exe to launch Android - if you wish, create a shortcut to haret - but that's up to you as it's an issue in WinMo ;).

You have a BCM chipset sir.

The TI chipsets don't play nice.

Unfortunately I have no way of confirming nor denying as I only have this phone, which is BCM.

Perhaps you missed it, but that user is on a Touch HD ;).

I miss running android on my phone... It seems as though this project has come a long way... Maybe I should give it a shot...

Keep up the great work guys!

Can I ask maybe a noob question? Why are there so many different builds? What is the purpose of froyo x VS blazin VS gingerbread (2 different builds one from tiad and one from Arrghh) VS Froyo frx05 VS sense X ? They all appear to have the same apps built in & same problems... If its a stupid question no need to answer.. Just curious.

tiad8 does his own thing, you'd have to ask him about the build differences.

On the surface, sense x uses sense, gb is gb... etc.

I only have two builds - FRX and GRX (GBX, gingerbread). These are the ONLY official XDAndroid builds. If you start talking about neopeek, there's a ton more builds. Individuals just building stuffs - everyone uses the same base kernel & rootfs tho.

:thumbleft: thanks for the findings, now i'm hooked with your GBX0A and working fine except for the known issues which are not priority to me. :razz:

If you enter certain settings you can send but not receive. Patience is a virtue (or something like that), I'm sure the devs will be looking at that eventually.

No bro, really im not frustrated at all, but like u i guess is the kernel, i try that last kernel i guess its 1276 with the frx04 and same problem, and if you install the build using that kernel, there is not much to do, just clean your sd card with hp format tool, and start all over again, but i try the GB and see that the landscape bug is solve! that is good, little progress achives big things at the end.. maybe i just wait for other kernel, the cam is not a big thing for me, im a photographer so always have a nikon with me anyway, but man you are a real master in these android builds bro! thx for the tip, i will keep reading to see if i can find a fix for this problem... thx man... keep the good work :headbang:

Hi there!

Today I installed the FRX05 on my RHOD500 (GSM/CDMA I use GSM in Orange Romania) and have the same problem.... as the phone goes to sleep, looses signal (I can't call it), as I wake it up it says no service, after 30-60 sec, there is signal again. If you want me to send some logs just tell me where can I find them.

I assume you have force_cdma=0 because you're using GSM.

Also, have you tried any different kernels? Just wondering if a particular kernel causes this behavior, if it previously worked.

Try some older kernels, you'll lose some features but if you can narrow down when this problem started, that would be helpful. Thanks!
