Also, have you tried any different kernels? Just wondering if a particular kernel causes this behavior, if it previously worked.

Try some older kernels, you'll lose some features but if you can narrow down when this problem started, that would be helpful. Thanks!

Yes I have force_cdma=0. I didn't try any other kernels, but I will today.

So I tested a few kernels, and i found out, that the problem is between htc-"msm-linux @ 20110210_213850" and "htc-msm-linux @ 20110214_200559". With the 2011.02.10 it's working good, but starting from 2011.02.14 it disconnects service during sleep.

Ah, that is interesting. This is when the first panel collapse commit was made to the autobuild kernels.

Can you provide a dmesg from this situation? Thanks!

I don't know what that dmesg is. If you explain, what to do, I'll do it. Switching back to a new kernel is easy, so if you describe the scenario, I'll do the test, and send you what you need.

Well you have two options. The FAQ has a section on ADB. This is useful if you're going to be doing a lot of debugging.

However, if you just want to pull it once you can connect to the terminal on the phone and do
Code:

dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.txt
That will dump the log to the root of your SD. If you don't have a modded rootfs, you won't be able to type the '>' character in without the soft keyboard - and I found that the soft keyboard doesn't work on the built-in terminal emulator, but it does on ConnectBot - grab it on the Market, you can use it to connect to the local root terminal.

With a log of this situation, I'll be able to take something useful to WisTilt2.

Basically boot, and as soon as the phone settles out put it to sleep. Wake it up, make sure it exhibits that behavior and pull a dmesg. WisTilt2 may need more, there's no telling at this stage - but it'll be a starting point.

Thanks for helping! These bugs'll never get squashed if I don't get some help squashin 'em ;).

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX05 - "Stable" - Camera!

Hey guys,

I just installed FRX05 to my memory card and this is the problem I'm currently have.

I think it's super fast and all; however, I don't know how to install my apk files.

(i) I can't add my Google account. While trying to do so, I always get the same error message (Can't establish a reliable data connection...). This means 'no market' for me.

(ii) I was previously using Astro to install apk files, but FRX05 does not come with it.

I've made a lot of research and I stumbled upon some ways of installing apk files from the computer. One was Android SDK and the other one was Android Injector. As for the former, I didn't even know how to use it after installing it and for the latter, the software simply doesn't acknowledge that my phone was USB connected to my PC.

Any idea how I can solve this problem?

All the best to all those who are working to make this REAL!

Do you have a data connection in general...? IE does only adding the Google account fail, or does all internet access fail in Android for you?

Also, you really should read the FAQ. Easiest way to install APK's is by dropping them in the AndroidApps folder.

Never heard of Android Injector. The other method you mention is also nice, called adb. The FAQ also mentions adb.

So sorry arrrghhh if I have asked some unnecessary questions.

I have internet access without any problem. I can browse and it's fast!!!

Does it mean that just dropping files in the AndroidApps folder will install them right away?

Thank you for your promptness and availability.

If you drop them in the folder, they will install on the next reboot - IE if you put them in there while in WinMo, then boot Android - they'll be installed.

The other two methods work while in Android - either a file explorer app, or
Code:

adb install

Alright, it's noted! I'll report back to you once I try the AndroidApps method. Also, do you know anything about the Syncing problem I have? Could my location be a factor for not being able to add a Google account?

Thank you once again!

I'm not sure, I know you don't need any location services to work for Google to sign in - perhaps your provider is blocking it? Seems doubtful... Does it work over wifi?

I'm on a different carrier/slightly different phone, and I've never had a problem signing into my Google account using the Sprint data cxn.

arrrghhh,

Is there any limit to the apks I can install using the AndroidApps method? The reason I'm asking is that it install the first 5 or 6 apks alright, but all the other apks that I copy to the folder do not install any longer. Do you know why?

I am currently living in Ghana, West Africa. The carrier does not affect me here. I'm on a GSM network currently even though my phone is originally a CDMA phone.

Thank you for all your support!

Hrm... I don't think there would be a limit, but perhaps it takes some time to churn thru them and times out.

Does it work if you reboot? Do the remaining APK's install? If not, adb install or using a file explorer app is the only other methods I'm aware of.

I definitely think using a file explorer app would be better since I don't seem to understand how to use the adb install (despite so many hours used in the attempt).

Which file explorer app would you recommend and how to use it?

Thanks once again.

I haven't used many file explorer apps for Android - Astro seems to be the favorite overall tho, and it works well.

As for adb install, you need to have adb working. Once you have adb working, you just do adb install <apk>. Very easy once adb is setup - adb isn't so easy to setup, as it is primarily used for debugging (and boy howdy does it make that easier!)

Yeah, I know adb is very hard to setup. As for astro, this is my favorite file explorer app too, but I can't seem to make a headway in trying to install it via the AndroidApps trick. Will try hard and let you know.

Thanks.

Lots of things happening, but it will be a little while before it can get integrated.

If you want something to play with, there's a fix for the 0,0 issue that puts you in the ocean when you startup Google Maps and try to use GPS. Basically resolves the false lock.

XDA Thread.

Stine is also going to backport some stuffs from GB. (fixed dial screen, etc)

Hi, I am still hanging out testing. Basically this build is OK for me if I was dropped in a desert island and did not use my BT headset. I am able to get around the 3.5 mm jack issue with a USB splitter in my car. These can also be purchased for headset use. OC is working fine and I get results of between 550 and 560 consistently with the 748 setting. WiFi also works.

Cheers

That is a known kernel bug and having it sync with the network doesn't help. Luckily there is a solution!

Please check out this thread to see known issues (and solutions if available) with TP2 Android: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-tp...lds-3-7-a.html

Download Clocksync from the market to solve your problems!

Use ClockSync (on the Market).

Did you read the FAQ? I highly recommend it.

Certainly not, sounds like a bad/corrupt data.img.

Here is my dmesg created with gbx0a kernel "htc-msm-linux @ 20110317_184049". The problem with the loosing service when the device goes to sleep is in the kernel, because first I had the frx05 with the same result. Hope you can get something out of this log!

Hrm... WisTilt2 didn't find anything glaring unfortunately. Tell you what, I'll open a bug and you post a few more dmesg's on it.

Take a few with his testing kernel, take one before the issue happened... take some with 1276 from the autobuild. Hopefully with some more info he can narrow down the problem.

frx06 free mem is up by at least 10 mb---adding stuff to home takes a bit of time. wifi and data are solid....gps takes a bit. basically all the goodness of frx05 but a bit more free mem....worth the flash

I wish somebody can help me with this. Everything seems to go fine until android loads and it only gives me about 3 seconds before freezing and not working at all. I tried everything already. I was using a 3g sd card and then I got a 8g card and formatted both using the sd formatter(full format) and I also tried the hp format tool as well downloaded everything again and nothing. My phone is for sprint and using metropcs my rom is EnergyROM

Hrm... so I'm assuming it's freezing after it boots, at the lock screen?

Metro is CDMA, but I know a lot of GSM folk have had issues with APNs. Perhaps you can try their trick? Basically get the phone in airplane mode ASAP. It may lock up - if it does, reboot. Should boot back into Airplane mode, and hopefully now you can use it. Setup your APN manually, for whatever settings you need for Metro. I can give you what works for Sprint, but I would think that would just lock it up again...

Hopefully that fixes your issue!

First of all, thank you for the quick response. Yes My phone freezes right after booting and it just gives me about 3 or 4 seconds before becoming totally unresponsive. can you tell me a fast shorcut to get it into airplane mode so that I can do it before frteezing?

Press and hold the power button to bring up the little dialog if you can do it after you unlock your phone then select airplane mode.

Thanks for your help guys now it doesn't freeze anymore and I can use wifi, but the Mobile Networks options are off when airplane mode is on, and if I try to set up the APN settings for metropcs,it freezes again. :|

I spent a lot of time doing searches about this problem, somebody posted here about this problem of the phone freezing when setting up the the APN and his solution was just to enter the information as quickly as possible before freezing and I can't do that since it takes me a while to type all the info for metro pcs.

Any suggestions about how to enter the settings while in airplane mode?

@elsitu it keeps freezing because your putting some wrong infomation. For password dont put metro pcs. Put your msl code and do not change any information below password. If it still dont work reload android again and put all the info on apn but DO NOT GO BEYOND PASSWORD.
