Landscape bug is "normal" but fixed in GB it seems. You can also just hit the back key first thing - goes portrait.

Also, the build is still posted on files.xdandroid.com.

I'd really wish you could help more with figuring this problem out, but I understand your frustration. Since my phone doesn't exhibit this issue, I can't really help with the troubleshooting for a fix...

Quick question regarding Overclocking. Do I have to download an OC cab, or just input the CPUclock HZ in the STARTUP.TXT?
Thanks again.

729600 is working for me in the startup.txt. As stated this may or maynot really improve performance. Next notch up for me, 748800, freezes the phone, though that is what I run on the WinMo side.

No bro, really im not frustrated at all, but like u i guess is the kernel, i try that last kernel i guess its 1276 with the frx04 and same problem, and if you install the build using that kernel, there is not much to do, just clean your sd card with hp format tool, and start all over again, but i try the GB and see that the landscape bug is solve! that is good, little progress achives big things at the end.. maybe i just wait for other kernel, the cam is not a big thing for me, im a photographer so always have a nikon with me anyway, but man you are a real master in these android builds bro! thx for the tip, i will keep reading to see if i can find a fix for this problem... thx man... keep the good work :headbang:

So far I'm amazed with the speed and relative stability of this build. As soon as XiiaLive supports OGG Vorbis streaming, I'll be ready to run this as my primary OS. My thanks go out to everyone involved in the project.

Also, I did notice one bug that's easy to reproduce. Install Skype and start a call with anyone; the "echo123" test account works fine. Try enabling speakerphone and the phone will be silent. Disable the speakerphone or end the call, and the phone will automatically reset.

Also, is it FRX05 or the newer kernel...? To test, go back to kernel 1253 on FRX05 (cam won't work, I know) and see if you have the same service issue.

I got that error too - network location doesn't work on CDMA (appears you are on Sprint) so that is moot.

You need to have a solid GPS lock that carries over to the USAA app. So as soon as you get a GPS lock in maps, go over to the USAA app. This worked for me. USAA is freakin awesome btw :p

You are correct I am on Sprint. I tired what you said and at first it was not working. I think because I was in a low signal area. I moved to where I get a better signal and it worked perfectly. Thanks alot! Oh yea and I love USAA as well, nobody beats them.

Not really sure why the app *requires* to know your location to deposit a check... thought that was odd.

We're working to get CDMA netloc (cell-tower based location) to work. Not sure when, so don't ask ;).

Hey all. Put frx05 on my wifes tp2, she loves it. She's used it for the last 2 days it gets way better batterylife than my samsung epic.

Anyways, ayone knoe how to get all the apps to show in the market. There are lots missing. I can see them in app brain but when I go to the maket to install it says th app isn't found. Angry birds lite beta is an example of one not found in the market.

I've heard there's some market enabler app...? Not positive tho, we aren't exactly using a native Android device, and the Market shows apps based on what device you're using...

Here you go :)

Just download the attached apk, install it, launch it and do the following to add paid apps to the Market:
  1. Go to Set custom tab
  2. Enter 310120 (for Sprint) as gsm.sim.operator.numeric; for Verizon, use 310012
  3. Click on Set to this values
  4. On main window, click on Save current settings

That's it, next time you run Market, paid apps will show up. I haven't tried to download a paid one yet but they do show up.

Enjoy. :)

Hi, I'm completely new to android and I'm kind of confused as to how I'm supposed to close apps.. it appears tthat the power button does the exact same thing as the end call button. To close things such as the browser, I must press the back button and go through my entire history before I finally get taken to the home screen.
A little help would be much appreciated. :)
-Thanks

You don't need to close apps like you would in Winmo. You can either hit back until you get back to home or go to spare parts and set your end tab to go home. Android handles it's own memory fairly well, but if you want to actually shut the apps down, d/l a task manager like taskiller or advanced task manager.

I didn't like that aspect either. Apparently you can change the setup by editing some things in the startup.txt or by using a different rootfs. I just downloaded a rootfs file here from the forums and copied it over the default one on my sd card and it automatically changed the controls of the power button. I think manekineko did it. It will allow you to use the power button on the top to go to homescreen on short press and go to all recently used applications on long press. It still wakes the phone too. It's located in this thread here. It makes way more sense to me this way. I feel like the standard way the phone is set up with power being the same functions as end call is stupid, but that's just me.

It is stupid, I agree ;). F22 has a thread going on XDA that has some additional options to change in the startup.txt, and hopefully his changes will get committed to mainline soon!

Nice. Mind if I add this to the FAQ? Not sure if I can mirror it or not, I'll probably just reference this post.

I'm trying the FX05, it works very well for me.
One problem, I was running Google voice, and got stuck in the setup process, it can't get some settings from my google account for some reason, but the phone just got stuck on that, I have no way to back out of that, the back button did nothing, I had to turn the power off. I didn't try that again, but I do downloaded spareparts and changed the end key to go to the home, because when I use the web browser, after open several different webpages, go to home becomes such a hard hard task with the back key.

I've run GV on every Android build since I started - main reason I use Android to be honest...

I've never had this problem. I guess you could try with a fresh data.img, but I assume that's how you were starting?

Try this. Setup your Google account in "Accounts & Sync". Let it completely sync all your email, contacts, calendar, etc. Then when it's done, fire up GV and let it use that account - hopefully that works better for you.

So this is my first experience with android in general. I noticed that the gmail app is set to push. The email app won't let you configure gmail via exchange like I can in wm. What I really want is to be able to schedule email syncing for every X minutes, and to disable syncing between midnight and 7am (so I can sleep without hearing it buzz in the middle of the night). This is a simple schedule change on wm, but I can't figure out how to do it in android.

Exchange and push are basically the same thing.

I don't see a way to do this either, perhaps if you use k9mail? I think that requires that you use IMAP tho.

Seems there isn't a solution. Found a bug (well, 'issue') googling this problem straight away...

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX05 - "Stable" - Camera!

I noticed something regarding SOD. I was running the stock FRX04 bundle for a week or two without any SOD, and when I switched to FRX05 i started getting the SOD (i had to look up what SOD meant as I'm new to all this, :) ).

What I noticed is that as soon as I switched from the standard lock screen to the pattern lock screen, I haven't gotten an SOD yet (knock on wood). I had been running FRX04 with the pattern lock screen, and when I switched over I hadn't yet turned that feature on.

Hope this helps anyone out there who is having this issue, if indeed this is a workaround. I'll post back if I ever get the SOD again. It may have been discussed in other threads, but I didn't see it in this one and I'm still new to all this. Plus this site is god awful slow for some reason, so it's a pain to try to go back and search previous threads!

same thing happened to me when i tried to just replace the system.ext2 file. what i ended up doing was:

1. use titanium backup to back up everything
2. copied off all the data from the sd card to my pc
3. formatted sd card using the hp tool everyone keeps talking about (it took a long time for my 16gb card, i don't think you really "need" to do this but i just wanted to make sure)
4. started from scratch using the bundle from the first post
5. put back my own ts-calibration file
6. blam, was up and running, ran titanium to restore, camera works great!

You can in theory - but you also need to update your kernel. Simply updating the system.ext2 is only one piece of the puzzle - the userland piece. You need to match the kernel piece up with it, and it should work fine ;).

You can do what was suggested in the above post, but it's not necessary. Simply grab the latest kernel from the autobuild service (directions in the first post) and you should be good to go.

If you do have issues and need to delete your data.img, the steps above will help ease that pain.

No offense, but this has nothing to do with the SoD issue. It's almost certainly service related, some have narrowed it down to the difference between 3g and 2g data - and switching between these modes frequently exacerbates the SoD problem. So that explains why those with old Airaves that only do 2g (1x) data were constantly getting SoD's. If you disable data completely, I've heard the SoD issue is gone. The RIL is being rewritten as we speak, hoping to have a test on that soon!

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX05 - "Stable" - Camera!

I ran FRX04 for a couple weeks, and at most I had a full restart (back to WM) once a day. Seemed to be one a day fairly consistent. I dropped in the FRX05 system.ext2 and have had more resets. Today I've had 4-5 so far, so I'm going to drop back down to FRX04 to see if that is still stable. The resets are totally random - I'll look over and the phone will be resetting, or I'll be using it and it will spontaneously reset. I have a hunch it has to do with wireless connectivity. It seems to act up more when I'm in spotty coverage areas.

I did not upgrade kernels from FRX04. Could that be part of my stability issue with the FRX05 system.ext2?

no offense whatsoever! i'm still new to this so i just wanted to share my observation, but it's good to know what the true culprit is and that there's hopefully a fix coming soon. great job on all of this by the way, talk about breathing new life into old hardware, eh? nothing can beat the keyboard on the TP2, which is the only reason i haven't ponied up for a used incredible, since i'm stuck on my contract still. =)

Re: [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX05 - "Stable" - Camera!

Been using FRX05 for 2-3 days now and it has been working amazing! It is working much better than FRX04 for me. I did start with an absolute clean bare bones install and it has been relatively problem free and great battery life. I have been using the latest wistilt2 test kernel.

I have been using what Tiad8 put together on 1/12 the original which had been the most stable/best performance for me previously. I do enjoy the higher resolution icons in FRX05 and native camera app.

Thanks for all the hard work developers and thank you arrrghhh for maintaining the thread.

Edit: one thing I did notice: The camera appears to be pretty dim, i.e. not letting enough light in. Is there a setting to control aperture that I am missing? or is this a bug? It could just be my TP2; I havent used the camera in a long time so I can't remember how it was.

Edit 2: When writing this I just had a random reboot to WM! Irony! First one though.

You should upgrade everything - kernel, rootfs and system image. Hence the reason I make bundles, so people can just grab those ;).

Uhm... Exchange and push are basically the same thing. How are they not? Exchange is just a type of email that uses push instead of pull... Do you understand what I mean by push instead of pull...?

I don't really want to get in an argument over this, I'd prefer to keep it on-topic. There doesn't seem to be a solution to your problem, as others with native Android devices have pointed out in the link I posted. Hopefully Google or some 3rd party app will fill the gap soon, but it's certainly not an issue with our hacked version of Android that we run.

I have found that when pushing the OCing you need to reboot at least 1-2 times, then seems to get stable.

Falling back to the FRX04 system.ext2 hasn't helped. It has reset 3 or 4 times since. I just plugged it into the charger and it promptly reset. It was very stable before, so I'm not sure if something is corrupted or what.

Please, update everything when going to FRX05. This is the reason for the bundle... Basically everything that is upgradable needs to be upgraded, except for the initrd ;).

Also, might be good to try a new data.img as well.

Also if you haven't reformatted recently or are constantly copying and deleting files off the sd card (like me) give it a format and start fresh.
