Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

Hey Guys, I am back with my start menu icon query. Although i have been able to change icons in the main start menu, now the next problem is how can i change the icons in Start>Settings? The files there are all cpl or exe, instead of lnk. I looked for some default icons and they are defined like this :

Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Settings\Personal\cplmain.cpl,1]
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_Lock.png"

This is an entry, for example, for the Lock icon in Start\Settings\Personal. The problem is, the htc specific icons in the settings menu like the Advance Network or Device info icons are linked there using MyCPL.cpl, working of which is unknown to me.

Can anybody tell me how can i customize the display icons for these items?

Thanks in advance!

PPCKitchen files. So far, I have not had any S.O.D. problems, but who knows? Anyhow, the 96DPI are from Da_G, so let us know if they are working ok. If there are any problems, I would suggest trying the known good 23003 96DPI. Also, FYI, gwes.exe still has the icon issues with Total Commander and dotFred Task Manager so it looks like these may be some permanent changes? I have not swapped it. I did, however swap compime.dll with 21731. IPSECVPN, Enterprise and LiveSearch are optional under system.

The Herman XIP is the only one tested. The Titan, I used a little program I made in C# to add in the extra stuff that XIPKitchen can't do, so let me know.

Apparently 6.5 is still being actively developed. From what I understand, they are working on the skinning/theming abilities and more finger friendly UI changes. Daily use? I don't know. It's up to you I guess :)

Wow is this all y'all do? Work on 1 build to make it perfect, then just drop it to go to the next to make that perfect?

Why don't yall concentrate on 1 build for like a month....then move on to the next big thing...I mean really? Is it that important to have the most recent sys in your rom compared to being the most stable and consistent?

imho..I can see how one could get frustrated,especially when I have a hard time keeping up. Some people want to have the highest number just to have the number. Others, like myself, get intrigued by watching the changes happen live from build to build. It's like peeking into the Russians space program plans and asking yourself "what are they building in there" Now most major bugs are hammered out by the giants between here and xda within 12 hrs of release.The minor ones i figure are for us to figure out or tolerate. I have been using the builds as a daily rom for about 2 months. The only pesistant irritation for me is the screen freeze that opens the messaging screen tasbar and requires a clik of the ok button. Minor but annoying as hell cuz it persists.

no, the initial 23003 had sleep of death issues reported all over xda.

the updated 23003 sys was pretty good, but there were a few minor issues (gwes, compime, etc)

Ah ok.

Yes, 23003 had strange in my wizard. ( Auto Reboot after few mins )

23004 is running good but still same problem with :

Smartskey.
Gray theme.
And the new problem with clock and battery icon. ](*,)

I don't think the gwes.exe issues are ever going away. This is the second build in a row with the same problem. If I had to guess, I would say that it is yet another change related to theming, allowing the icon to be changed when something is highlighted/selected? But since nothing is using it currently, it's reading from memory/cache but all that is there was old cached stuff?

Anyone else got info on the matter?

Also, I put together an 23004 96DPI from the known good 23003 base. Maybe this will address clock/battery issues?

Here's the direct link. I'll also update my other post with it as well if it helps/works.

Link removed. It didn't help.

No what I mean is that, if everyone concentrated on 1 build at a time we could all have a perfect SYS...instead we switch every other day to a new build with new problems and have to fix them and waste time

And what does me having a Vogue have to do with anything? I can't afford a TouchPro without an upgrade so I had to skip it....and I'm going to skip tPro2 as well so what's it matter? I'm sorry I don't dedicate my life to buying every PPC device that comes out, it's just a waste of money and time

HTC Leo here I come :D

Da_g, I mean in no way that what you do is dumb because I admire you the most posting the builds....I'm talking to everyone else

See the 23001 would have been the build to upgrade to....everyone could have been working on another build until the next big thing which would have been 23001, and unless there is a problem that cannot be fixed at all....then just stick to it....if there is a problem keep moving up until it can be fixed

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

What was the last build that we actually had a native QVGA (96DPI) build? This is in reference to Joojoo's mention of the <SYS_23004_96DPI_0409.rar> being made from a functional <SYS_23003_96DPI_0409.rar>.

I am just curious how "old" the 96DPI/QVGA resolution and language files are that we are using in these newer builds....being renamed and used with a Common SYS from a native VGA build, then renamed again for the next build that is released. Wasn't it acually back around 21202 that we had a Chinese SYS that the <SYS_*_96DPI_0409.rar> was translated to get us the English res/lang files we are now using in the most current ROMs? I am curious if this is half of the battle us QVGA users are having to fight to get things to work properly.

Now, I do understand that 21501 uses 21202_96DPI_0409 files, but have there been any newer one's released or dumped from a QVGA device for us to work with?

Am I making any sense here?:scratch:

I don't think the gwes.exe issues are ever going away. This is the second build in a row with the same problem. If I had to guess, I would say that it is yet another change related to theming, allowing the icon to be changed when something is highlighted/selected? But since nothing is using it currently, it's reading from memory/cache but all that is there was old cached stuff?

Anyone else got info on the matter?

doubtful they'll go away completely like you say, but the 23004 gwes has been using considerably less memory than 23003 for me

Whoa whoa easy big fella, I didn't say anything about you having a vogue??

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the vogue should have been codenamed the Napoleon.

imho..I can see how one could get frustrated,especially when I have a hard time keeping up.

If you mean, after a flash, that appear a screen "messages", it is by an OEM package called Bootlauncher (it was in my rom). There's a rgu with a this key:

Quote:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Apps\T Mail]
"Module"="\\Windows\\tmail.exe"
"CmdLine"="-NoUI"
This key is responsible for this screen. I deleted it and all works well and the screen doen's appear any more.

The working 23003 was basically a combination of 218xx DPI's, some of Da_G's converted stuff and the 23003 0409's. The 23004 test I put up is no different. The last ACTUAL official 96DPI files that leaked out? I don't really know. I hope this helps clear up SOME of the mess :D

Stumbuled across this today and for anyone who has already known this sorry for posting it. When your phone is locked and you get an email, txt, missed call, or voice mail it shows the number of events on your slider to unlock. If you tap on the Slider additional sliders in white drop down, voice mail, missed phone call, txt msg, or email, etc. Slide on that and unlock it and it goes right to the app. Kind of cool. Now that I know this, does anyone know where those icons are located? I would like to skin them.

Cheers,

Mikee
