It would be nice if it rotated the video to fill the screen automatically.. I believe the TCMP does this automatically..

Mr. Charles-

Do you know when there will be a stable release for the HTC Touch Pro?

Is there any discussion at Kinoma about reducing the memory footprint? For low- RAM phones (HTC Mogul), it can be a hassle to turn off every other program just to be able to use the Player..

Thank you

Re: Kinoma media player

"If you have a phone with a slideout keyboard, orientation sensor or another way to rotate the screen, you can rotate your screen just before playback.

Question for you: On phones with a portrait display but without a way to rotate the screen, should Kinoma Play rotate the video to better fill the screen automatically?

-- Charles Wiltgen ________________"

I think the option to switch to lans mode at video play is a must feature for media players, Funny you mention orn sens as i found kinoma orienting itself during a particular usage (have touch pro) but I have not been able to reproduce it, are you saying that kinoma has built in suport for some orientation sensors? video shuffle shouldalso be an option because say i hae a folder in orb with 500 music videos, i should have the option to play them randomly...this is also a must... btw i have just acurired full trough trialpay what acool deal, love my seeking in orb now@!

Re: Kinoma media player

I have the Touch Pro and the Free as well as Full have been mighty stable for me so far, I too am coming from a mogul so i feel your pain on the memory, but i would have to say that an app such as this with all the features would be hard to reduce the mem footprint.

Thanks Form.. I was playing around with a TP and when I downloaded the Free, it said it was not fully tested on this device.. That is true Form... It's always an admirable goal to have though... If the memory footprint is reduced, even slightly, this enables a much greater amount of phones (especially low memory phones) being able to use this app. I would rather max out the memory with this app then have a shoddy app that uses little memory..

Is it worth the extra money to buy the Full version over the Free?

Re: Kinoma media player

Just for the simple fact you can seek in ORB its worth the money, the quality seems better as well, you can also download from your ORB over the air to your device.

I Used the TrialPay option, which is cool, click the link and enter your info, subscribe to an offer, I chose Blockbuster for 5.99 first month, after completing the order i was e-mailed the downlaod link and the code for activation. Pretty sweet if you ask me I paid 5.99 and i get a month of movie rentals...lol just remeber to cancel before the month is up or they auto bill you.

I appreciate the feedback, thanks! If you follow our blog or Twitter tweets (see my signature) you'll be the first to know when we implement that kind of functionality.

Our developers had the discipline to create Kinoma Play on low-resource phones, and as a result it runs pretty great on low-resource phones (I personally use a Q9c). Between that and the support requests we receive, we don't feel like this is a problem.

Current releases work great on the HTC Touch Pro. (It makes me want one!) We even support its orientation sensor.

On VGA+ screens, Kinoma Play scales some UI elements to keep the app responsive and touch-friendly. In future updates we'll incorporate "super-res" UI elements for VGA+ screens.

(For people who aren't familiar with TrialPay, we offer a "Check out with TrialPay" option that lets you get Kinoma Play for free if you take advantage of a TrialPay partner offer.)

Yes, many of the TrialPay partner deals are trials that can be canceled when the trial is over.

Re: Kinoma media player

I downloaded and tried the free version to checkout YouTube and Orb streaming on my Vogue and to say I was dissapointed would be an understatement. Kinoma doesn't allow you to change the pre-buffering size at all, so on devices/networks like mine where my speed wildly varies from moment-to-moment, the program buffers all the damn time. I once managed to get youtube to stream for almost 20 consecutive seconds before it started rebuffering. Threads on Kinoma's support forums are met with thinly veiled hostility from Charles@Kinoma (see here for an example).

The problem is easy to comprehend and doesn't require a support case to be logged. The buffering in Kinoma stinks and needs to either be tweaked to allow user selectable buffering (ala WMP/TCPMP/Core), or the algorithm that's being used to automatically adjust on the fly needs to be fixed.

It's a shame really, because the rest of the program seems responsive and the right amount of 'flashy'. But, until the buffering is fixed, there's no way I can use this program and I'm going to have to stick with the completely free TCPMP for my streaming needs... eventhough it's far less pretty.

Yah, I dont like how it doesn't dl if you click pause. Hell, I pause sometimes just so that I can come back and not have to worry about buffering issues.
