Re: Kinoma media player

Heads up everybody... Kinoma Play got an update...

Improvements…
  • File associations — Kinoma Play now manages file associations instead of depending on Microsoft’s installer. This improves compatibility with the “Set as Ringtone” feature on Windows Mobile phones, helps ensure that content downloaded with web browsers (MP3 and JPEG files, etc.) goes to the correct folders (My Music, My Pictures, etc), and allows the names of special folders to be properly localized.
  • Improved handling of DRM’d content — Kinoma Play now checks for the presence of DRM, and will now automatically pass DRM-encrypted content to its default player.
  • Spanish language support — ¡Qué bueno!
  • SHOUTcast — Kinoma Play now uses a more reliable SHOUTcast directory server.
…and one fix
  • Unicode in MP3s — Some MP3 files with 16-bit Unicode text in their ID3 tags could cause Kinoma Play to hang. If you ever run across one of these, it’ll now work great.

Re: Kinoma media player

I think this program is worth the price; however they have a free basic version which has good features. I've been looking for a nice and easy to use media player for my mogul and I think this just works perfect for me. I bought pocket player before; it was ok but a liittle complicated for me. Kinoma has large text which is very easy to use with your fingers and easy to read, it plays AAC out of the box and I think it even plays FLAC, I carry around mp3s aac and flac files, and I like how it displays the album's artwork. But what really made me buy this program is that I listen to a lot of talk radio, mostly conservative, and with the paid version you can listen to more than 1000 CLEAR CHANNEL'S radio stations around the country of music, talk, news and sports etc. I had strugled before to listen to my favorite radios on my mogul because some stations use embeded players and ie mobile doen't handle it, neither did skyfire. I also like the easy integration with youtube, I can log in to my account and whatch my favorite videos or search for new ones very easy and fast. I still have to play with it a little more to see what other features it has. What else can you ask for....you have your music, videos, pictures, online radio stations, podcasts and youtube at your finger tips. I'm loving it....

I downloaded it, and it does exactly what I want it to do. Play my audio, play my ORB, and play my shoutcast. What more could you ask for, and it's free? Is there a limited time it's free? Because I am happy and content with this... not sure why anyone would pay $30 for the other one... just use the Kinoma FreePlay... as the name suggests... "Free"!
Yup... I lied... not liking this app at the moment. Here's why. Hopefully someone can help me out. I am using freeplay, so I was checking it out. I was simply using it for Shoutcast. Then I see the Kinoma guide... very cool, but not cool enough to pay $30, IMO. Also... don't like that you can only put 10 favorites in, but again, I understand that's what you get for free, but I can get as many as I want when setting up Shoutcast through GSplayer.

When I first started playing around with free, I noticed Orb, but never dove into it. Well... I finally did this morning. Video works fine, pictures work fine, but audio does not. When I go to audio, I click on artist, and it says "searching" forever. It's been 30 minutes, and nothing. I go to orb on opera mini... no problem... I can do this. So I just went to the "search" tab. Put in an artists name I know is on there.... nothing. WHY? Is this because it's the "free" one? I might consider signing up on one of these trial pays, and then cancel, if that's what i need to run my audio on Orb.

Basically... this app could be worth it. Because right now, I have about 3 players I'm using. Granted, I'd like to integrate it all into one, but not sure if it's worth $30 to do so. I think it has potential, and if I could figure out the Orb audio, I'd probably seriously consider paying for this. But no way will I pay $30, when the main thing i'd use it for, Orb audio, doesn't even work.

Am I doing something wrong? Anyone able to help me with this?
THANKS!

Re: Kinoma media player

I don't know if I can help you with that. I can say that I use Kinoma Play, and the audio tab in orb works fine for me. I can select artists and then listen via Kinoma Play. I didnt have orb running when I was using frreplay so I dont know about that. I also did the trialpay with realplayer superpass, and cancelled a day later cause superpass blows.

if you want, you can setup Orb and PM me the connect information and I will let you know if I can stream your music content using Sprint and TP

Thanks... I'll keep playing around with it. The only way I can use the audio, through freeplay, is by song, and that would take forever. Plus... when I "search" for a song, it won't find anything. But if I click on "artist", "album", or "genre", it just spins and won't connect. But pictures work fine, videos work fine, for some reason, audio won't.

I looked under trialpay, but there was nothing for realaplayer, do you have a link?

THANKS!
