I downloaded and tried the free version to checkout YouTube and Orb streaming on my Vogue and to say I was dissapointed would be an understatement. Kinoma doesn't allow you to change the pre-buffering size at all, so on devices/networks like mine where my speed wildly varies from moment-to-moment, the program buffers all the damn time. I once managed to get youtube to stream for almost 20 consecutive seconds before it started rebuffering. Threads on Kinoma's support forums are met with thinly veiled hostility from Charles@Kinoma (see
here for an example).
The problem is easy to comprehend and doesn't require a support case to be logged. The buffering in Kinoma stinks and needs to either be tweaked to allow user selectable buffering (ala WMP/TCPMP/Core), or the algorithm that's being used to automatically adjust on the fly needs to be fixed.
It's a shame really, because the rest of the program seems responsive and the right amount of 'flashy'. But, until the buffering is fixed, there's no way I can use this program and I'm going to have to stick with the completely free TCPMP for my streaming needs... eventhough it's far less pretty.
