Have you got your hands on any windows 6.5.1 builds yet? I was just reading about them over on xda. seems interesting.

Unofficially these 230xx builds are 6.5.1
This is the com3 branch that is being ported to the com4 branch which is 6.5.1

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23075

Just installed 23075 barebones. Looks good but I think I've run into a bug. None of my emails show who sent them in the stock email program. If I browse them in M2D, it says <Unknown Sender> in each one. I think I've seen this issue pop up in on other 23075 roms.

FWIW, I am connected to an exchange server (don't use pop3) and I did a hard reset prior to flashing 23075.

It seems you are not alone here. Multiple reports over at XDA regarding this, all on different devices. It is only affecting Exchange Active Sync users. So, it is not an issue with mattsm's rom but with 23075 in general. No fix has been found as of yet. If one is found, I am sure mattsm will be updating his rom. :D So for now, just hang tight, or go back to 23069.

I am glad that I am not alone in the exchange problem

Thanks, I'll go back to 23069 for now!

Same Exchange issue here. I'm going to live with it and see how this rom performs for a few days. :) Thanks again Mattsm!

Hey guys, looks like the Exchange Activesync issue is being caused by syncmgr.dll. Mattsm is not gonna be around for the majority of the day so he asked that I make a cab for you all to try. The attached cab should fix the problem, but we don't know for sure. If any of you could install and let us know, that would be awesome since we both could use the info. If it fixes it, mattsm may be updating his ROM later.:laughing6:

UPDATE: Updated with new cab. This new one DOES fix the problem. ;)

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23075

Installed the patch and soft reset - it didn't work for me. Old and new emails still have the problem. Thanks and keep trying!

Cool, thanks for the feedback. Hopefully the issue can be resolved. I've updated the post to let everyone else know that the cab probably does NOT fix the issue. I will be doing some testing today myself, if I find anything, I will let you all know.

joojoobee666 -- our posts must have crossed. I just tried the NEW cab and it fixed the problem. The sender is now showing on all new emails and yes I installed and then it says must reset so I did and all is working now!!! Great Work!

Great news, thanks for testing this.
Big thanks to joojoobee666 also.
I will fix the build sometime tonite. If anyone is already running the 23075 and does not want to redownload and reflash then the cab install works fine.
Again thanks to you guys.

That really depends on what screens over at xda you are talking about.
But if you are talking about this http://www.xda-developers.com/ then yes.

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23075

Looks like the updated patch works. New emails are showing the sender. It doesn't affect emails that were on the device prior to installing the patch - they still do not show the sender.

Thanks!

Was released late last nite.

I don't get it..

Release branches? Are we still in Release Candidate or has it RTM'd?

There are still releases. As a matter of fact a com5 branch just started and a build was released today.
Looks like vga only but I have not looked yet.

abuttino 10-25-2009 08:12 PM

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23081

That doesn't make any sense.

Is this a release branch (RCBranch) or an update to the RTM?

What is the deal with HTC making 6.5 available for an upgrade if it hasn't been released to the market?

mattsm 10-25-2009 08:13 PM

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23081

does anything that M$ does make sense?

abuttino 10-25-2009 08:17 PM

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23081

Well, with windows 7 there were screwy build numbers. I remember 7106 was a chinese version that was released before the RC1 but was a part of the RTM branch.

Never have I heard of a RCBranch being released after an RTM. Seems that it would be an update, not a branch..

But, again.. this is windows mobile and it's a different division of MS.

HOPEFULLY some wikipedia research can answer my question

Do post what you find.

abuttino 10-25-2009 08:29 PM

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23081

Ok, here is what I found

Quote:

"COM5 is a new Build of WinMo 6.5.1 (a.k.a. v6.6).

Current Build of Sector's Hades Rom: 23064
Latest Build released: 23071
(rumored) Build of COM5 Release: 235XX

So you can see the COM5 Build is a bigger step than usual.
But from what i know, its something like a rumor. Some People at XDA told they got it running but no Pics or other confirmation was posted. Well, i dont say its not true wink.gif"
This whole build (WinMo 6.5) is just about the most useless thing microsoft has put out since ME.. I think they have either got their heads up their asses or who knows..

Either way it's a mess.

Just to recap
Windows mobile 6.5 is finished, they are working on 6.5.1

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23081

maybe I missunderstood your question
Yes these are the 6.5.1 builds that we are getting.

Thanks Matt, I strayed and tried one of Ryans ROMS. Its good stuff for sure. But I have to come back to yours. I like a lot of stuff you have in yours but there are a few things I would like to see. Ill play with this one for a while and post back if I find any bugs or have any suggestions.

I just loaded 23075 and my phone will not accept calls - says all circuits are busy. The voice mail works, and I can call out, just not receive calls. Any suggestions what may be wrong? Also O3Touch will not work, saying StackOverFlowException. I was previously running PPCGeeks 6.5 build 21501 from the Kitchen. How can I fix this issue before I go back to the PPC Kitchen

Is anyone else experiencing an issue with 23081 and IE? Any page I try to open actually tries to "download".

Example : http://m.cnn.com/

Re: Mattsm 6.5 23081

I am seeing same issue with IE trying to download all content. This is happening on the 23081 Sprint Edition (haven't tried the bare bones yet). Tried a few workarounds and nothing so far. Here is some of my initial testing. Please note below is incomplete since I hit the IE blocker problem.

****BUild 23081 - Mattsm Sprint Version****
Memory On Bootup
================
Program
47.05MB Total
28.42MB in use
18.63MB Free
Storage
141.38MB Total
8.08MB in use
133.30MB Free

Installed Apps (at least)
=========================
New Microsoft Contact Application Finger Friendly
Standard Microsoft IE

Testing
=======
--Function Testing
G=Good or OK
W=Some oddities but still functional
B=Some blocker or issue (or bad)

G=Align Screen
W=Date and Time Setup
(Drop downs are inconsistent timezone can really see the down arrow, date and time are old school triangles)
B=Internet Explorer/Internet (see odd behavior #3)

--Odd Behaviors
1.On bootup noticed a notification button at bottom, when pressed nothing showed and it went away.
2.On first launch of IE, prompts to download powerdeck to My Documents folder
3.Cannot find "My Documents\poerdeck.sprint.htm", click ok then no file. Workaround: go to my documents folder, run the htm file
from there, comes up blank, then choose a different home page - didn't work
