For this step u can use NueSPL 2.47 or Olipro 2.40 (just one of them, NOT both) DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL YOUR UNLOCKED !!! *** press power+camera+reset and check bootloader version *** From this point the reference on flashing from SD Card is 100% correct, and also my preferred method of flashing. Just remember that the card must be smaller than 2 GB, formatted FAT32, and the image must be named accordingly. Then you load the card, put device into bootloader and press a button to start... oh did i mention that flashing from SD Card is also much faster !!!

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide
OK i think i am in a little trubble. I update to 2.47 to unlock the phone and verified it was unlocked by pressing the reset buttons. after that I loaded a radio firmware 3.42.40 and placed it in the root of SD card as name TITAIMG.nbh. I did a power + Camera Reset and updated the radio. It failed the first time so I pressed reset and it started back up and finished properly. Now I want to load the ROM but after power back on the phone or after reset I am stuck in the HTC Smart Mobility screen. It will not boot into windows mobile to connect active sync and run the ROM update. Any Idea of what I can do. I hope I did not brick my phone.

any .nbh left behind from NueSPL you want to delete then you need to make sure your card is formatted FAT32 2GB or under reported to work, place TITAIMG.nbh in /root (root folder of mem card) once you put the card in the device, press cam+power+reset and follow onscreen prompts Quote:
In 7-zip (which is FREE btw ) its Right Click - 7-Zip - Open Archive Once you've extracted the nbh rename it TITAIMG.nbh From here, you can guess the next steps. Note: Depending on the exe ROM your talkin about, you may want to 'skip customizations' When you install an EXE (or shipped) ROM, you are subject to new radio, new rom, new bootloader (if not unlocked with HSPL), etc... If its not your carrier you will want to skip customizations to skip customizations, soft reset withing 3 seconds during the countdown... Quote:
Otherwize, try the 7-zip trick Quote:

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide
Thanks alot Puff....you guys are the best...I was able to update the radio and rom after extracting the .exe. I am up and running on windows 6.1. the only thing is my internet connection is not on...i am assuming I will have to call us cellular and get my connection setup again with user name and password with #777 being the number i think.
Is there anything else I need to know after doing these updates...Like I hope 911 still works. Thanks again everyone...also will need to check the GPS!!!! YESS!! |

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide
I went through you first 6 steps perfectly until I got the choosing the modules and flash the rom. I chose what modules I thought I would want adn chicke the play button but it was unable to complete because the desktop was unable to comunicate with the mobile pc. Now all I get with the phone is the HTC screen and I am unable to get it to communicate with the desk top.
How do you flash the rom? How do you flash the rom back to the uscc standard? |

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide
So I'm having some problems with this.
Everytime I've gone to load the new radio using Hard-SPL when i get to the part where it loads onto the phone the progress bar starts on both the pc and the phone but throws an error code shorty after. So I decided to flash it using an SD card. However when I try to flash from the SD card it gets stuck on the "loading..." screen until I pull the battery. Anybody have any thoughts? |

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
I bought my 6800 a year ago and have waited until past warrenty to flash. I am not afraid to muck around in the box (my first ppc was a casio be300, if that means anything), but I was nevious. After printing out this thread I desided to do it the way BillthyCat recomended because my activesync is goes wonky all the time ( it seems to be an HP thing). Well Bill had not completely fleshed out his method but following Mavericks order of install and Bills method I had it going in less than 3 hours. It would have been about 1, but I used the DCD precooked rom, after a year I had all the programs I needed and just wanted the basics, anyway it took me about 2 hours to figure out I had to add a uscc carrier cab from DCD. That took about 2 minutes and I was done. WOW what a difference. Happy,Happy. If anyone is wanting to do this "Bills way", I include links that give you a step by step of how to use QPST and a link to DCD's carrier cabs. Thanks to BillthyCat and Maverick351ci (it took a minute but that name led me on a trip down memory lane). As for the GPS, the kids and me Geocache, does anyone know of a program that alows you to enter coordinates as a destination?
